Chap.16 Nightmares

A Month later....

It had been a long day, you and Xiao took turns to survey the harbor today but you did run into a few creatures that tried to get to the city but your husband swiftly took care of It, you'd also gone to have a talk with Cloud Retainer just to reminisce the past as usual but you also loved talking about new things in this new era but then Moon Carver came to join as well, It had been a longtime since you'd last spoken to him but you had a good long conversation. For Adepti like yourselves the days and years seemed to go on forever, but you didn't care so long as you could spend It with the one you loved and the friends you held dear to your heart.

Shortly after returning to Wangshu Inn you and Xiao had a meal together, he went with the usual Almond Tofu and you did like It but you weren't as fond as he was of It, and he told you the reason why he liked it as it reminded him of the dreams he used to be forced to consume, which led him to reveal the rest of his past that you had no idea about when he was enslaved

"Alatus...."

tears filled up your eyes as you looked at him in disbelief, you reached to touch his shoulder and he shook his head as he then held your hand in return, "That was....a longtime ago before I met you or the others...Rex Lapis had mercy and saved me from that existance...."

Xiao then turned to you as he wiped away the tears from your cheeks

"Sorry...I didn't want you to cry beloved"

he then brought his forehead to yours, and you held the sides of his head all the while you continued to cry as you felt your heartbreak for him, "I'm sorry for keeping this from you..."

you shook your head, "Don't apologize, It was too painful to talk about I know...."

Xiao cupped your cheek, he then smiled "but Everything's fine now...I promise"

you started to calm down before you took in a breath, "alright"

he pressed a kiss to your forehead, "It's late...we should get to bed"

you nodded In agreement, you finished the meal just as Yuhua came to take the dishes away for you both and you thanked her before you left, heading up to your bedroom, you snuffed out the candle and removed your shoes as you got into the bed to cuddle up with Xiao

he ran his hand through your hair, "What did you talk about with Cloud Retainer"

you smiled, "Nothing much just the old days, and things I've come to love about this age"

Xiao nodded, "I see"

"you've always loved all things the world has to offer" he said with a loving smile

you giggled, "Of course, the world can be beautiful but sometimes we can't see It"

Xiao drew in closer as he brought his arms around you, and you held him in return as you shared a goodnight kiss before closing your eyes. And about a few hours passed since than with your positions changed so Xiao was now holding you from behind as you slept peacefully

but then Xiao's brow furrowed in his sleep, and he started trembling as his heartbeat started to increase as he started having a nightmare of those dark times In the past 

you felt him shaking and It woke you up as you turned around to face him

"Alatus?"

you gently touched his cheek, "Alatus? what's happening"

you started to worry as he wasn't responding, and you turned him on his back as you started to shake him but he wouldn't open his eyes which made you worry all the more

"Alatus please! what's wrong"

Xiao's fists were tight and his breathing ragged but then he shot up all of a sudden as he let out what sounded like a sound of fighting back "!!!!!!!"

Xiao's golden eyes were wide and his tattoo's were glowing on his arm, you wondered if It was alright to touch him but you didn't think as you wrapped your arms around him, resting your head on his shoulder as you rubbed his back ".....I'm here Alatus...please calm down"

you remembered this was like that time he comforted you from your flashbacks, 

Xiao started to calm as he closed his eyes before he hugged you tightly

"Were you frightened?" he asked

you nodded In response but then nuzzled his neck, "I was worried...you wouldn't wake up and you were like I was months ago on that night"

Xiao took in a deep breath, "I'm sorry...I've caused you so much trouble....those memories came flooding back as I slept, It was eons ago but still feels like Yesterday just like losing you...."

tears came to the corners of your eyes, "Alatus...It's all over now he can't force you to do those things anymore, you're safe I'm with you"

"I know....I know"

Xiao felt himself starting to tear up, and he parted to look you in the eye as he cupped your cheeks before he brought his lips to yours, "I love you...so much..."

you kissed back, "I love you too...just the same" 

"It's now when I feel I don't deserve you My Qingxin"

you held his hands, "You do, please don't say that"

you then rested your foreheads together, and Xiao steadied his breathing as he started to calm down before he apologized for saying what he did before In terms of not deserving you 

"you don't need to apologize even I...felt sometimes like that in the past, like I wouldn't be good enough" 

Xiao touched your cheek, "You Deserve me, All of me don't ever doubt that"

Xiao then laid back as he brought you with him, and you hugged his waist as you rested your head against his chest as you listened to the rhythm of his heartbeat, and eventually you started to hum a little tune In hopes It'd help him some more but he was already calm enough, but the effort wasn't In vain as it made the both of you fall back asleep.
