Chap.15 Lantern Rite

A Month later...

It was the biggest holiday within Liyue's history, the Lantern Rite and everywhere was bustling with preparations for the night, though It had been a millennia since your last Lantern Rite with Xiao and the other Yaksha's which was why your husband wanted to make It special for you, the him of before couldn't have cared less about the Lantern Rite, but thanks to you and Aether his views on it were changed for the better, Xiao was thinking long about how he could make It a memorable night for you and he even went so far as to ask Ganyu on what to do, she'd known you too for a longtime just like Xiao, and you were a woman so he wanted a woman's opinion on what to do for this year's lantern rite with you especially since you were starting your new life together as husband and wife, In which Madam Ping gave her congratulations for you both and the same could be said for the other Adepti.

you were currently on your way back to Wangshu Inn, carrying In your arms a wrapped package that Zhongli had given to you as a gift from him but he didn't say what It was, even so you were grateful and appreciative of his gift, you were very excited for the lantern rite tonight and you asked Xiao if the both of you could go view the lantern's together, though your husband didn't like crowds but he couldn't say no to you so you'd watch from rooftop together

you smiled to yourself as you hurried along back home, greeting and wishing the other patrons of the Inn a happy lantern rite, heading upstairs to your now shared room as you went to open up the package and inside you silently gasped, there was a dress within the packaging, you took it out to admire the blue and white detailing, it had long white sleeves too. 

"so pretty...but Is it really fine for me to..."

you then nodded, and started changing out of your usual attire as you changed into the dress,(Click arrow above to see) then going to look in a mirror at yourself in surprise of your reflection

you giggled, "I wonder what Alatus will think"

and soon enough your Vigilant Yaksha strode in, "Love? are you here?"

you turned to face him as his golden eyes widened slightly, "you..."

Xiao then blushed, "you look beautiful, but you've never changed before what's this about"

you smiled, "Thank you, I know but this was a gift from his lordship I shouldn't let It go to waste, after all tonight's the lantern rite"

Xiao nodded, he then came to your side as you shared a little kiss before he caressed you.

 "The Traveler Invited us to have dinner with him and Paimon, I wanted to wait to ask if you wanted to go."

you smiled, "Of course!"

Xiao smiled, "alright, let me know when you're ready to go I'll take us there."

you held his hand, "we can go now, the sun's starting to set"

Xiao gave a nod before he swept you up into his arms, you giggled before he used his powers to transport you to Feiyun Slope as you walked hand in hand while looking around as the place was becoming bustling with cheer, you pointed to a pair of lanterns that were being made

In which caused Xiao to smile a little bit as he had a surprise for you later, you soon came to Xinyue Kiosk where you met with Aether and Paimon

"Hey there!"

you smiled and went to say hello to Paimon, exchanging a hug with her and Aether before you went inside, and Aether had gotten a table for you all outside on a terrace.

you went to sit down and Xiao sat next to you, and soon Heli came to take your orders In which you ordered the golden shrimp balls, Paimon ordered some golden crab, Xiao ordered the full moon egg though he wished the place had almond tofu but they didn't 

Paimon looked to you and Xiao "Is it true you got married?"

you smiled, "Mhm"

Paimon and Aether exchanged a look of happiness, "Congratulations"

"But...why wasn't Paimon invited to the wedding?"

you started, "we didn't have a wedding, it was only a ceremonial exchange of wine."

"What!?"

Xiao crossed his arms, "It was only the two of us"

Aether smiled, "I get It, but it's nice to celebrate It with other people too"

Heli soon returned with your food, and you started eating while talking with them some although Xiao kept silent as he ate but he was more than happy to see you have fun, the sun had fully set with the stars emerging in the sky and you knew the celebrations were underway. 

after you finished eating you all went outside to have a look at the sky, now seeing people down below In Feiyun slope as they lit their lanterns, you rested your head on Xiao's shoulder

"It's been decades since I last saw this sight," 

Xiao put his arm around you as he brought you closer, "I know"

you smiled and looked at him, "But I'm glad I get to share this sight with you"

Xiao smiled warmly, "So am I"

he pressed a kiss to your forehead, but then he realized now would be the best time before he told you to follow him up onto the roof of the place, "Alatus? what're we doing up here"

"You'll see"

once at the top, Xiao took out something from his sleeve as he started putting it together before you saw the lantern he held, you were surprised "A Lantern?"

Xiao smiled with a nod, "Come"

you came to his side, just as you saw many lanterns start ascending up to the skies in which you realized what he was doing, you smiled warmly "Let's light It together"

you lit the lantern together, exchanging a look before you held it together while making wishes in your hearts before you lifted it up together, watching your lantern go up to the heavens

Xiao smiled lovingly, brushing your hair back "I don't need a wish because all I've wanted has already come true...you are all I could ever want"

you smiled as you started getting teary eyed, "I feel the same"

"I love you (Y/n)"

"I love you too Alatus"

he brought his arms around you as you shared a long kiss, and you kissed back before soon parting ways, and Xiao pressed some pecks to your neck which made you giggle

"Dearest, you can't get frisky"

Xiao gave a little chuckle, "Who says I am, and even If I were I'd take you back to the Inn quickly so we could make love"

you blushed, "Alatus"

he kissed your hand, looking you in the eyes as you exchanged a loving look to each other before huddling together again as you continued watching the lanterns together.
