Chap.5 His Karmic Struggle

A few days later...

you'd been getting along well In Liyue, and Xiao had arranged your own room for you at the Wangshu Inn, so you would be more comfortable then just using his room, though you lost your memories you yourself were getting more curious every day about the past, and you wanted to try getting them back, to you it seemed you and Xiao used to be close but you wondered how close, It still hurt to Xiao that you didn't remember him, but he'd bear with It and help you of course so you could remember a few things, you and Xiao never had the true chance to be together and life a normal existence, so In his heart Xiao vowed, if you did remember the past he'd never let you go again but If not, he'd respect your freedom to start a new life, he loved you deeply but only wanted you to be happy and that was what mattered to him most

Xingqiu managed to find a few more scattered documents about you, and so he was working hard to have them mended and for the book to be restored, without damaging It 

at the moment you were outside, sitting In the grasses not too far from Wangshu Inn, Xiao had been gone for a few hours so you'd been alone, to you Xiao had been very kind and you knew you could trust him, but you started to feel that something within you was locked away, like certain feelings, but you didn't proceed to wonder any further

you laid down in the grass as you looked to the sky, the sunset was about to end and so you wanted to see It, you found a smile coming to your face, just as something flashed in your mind, a memory and there was someone lying next to you as you watched the stars together, it seemed that their hair was green, but the face was all blurry 

you furrowed your brows, placing a hand to your head "what was that"

you took in a breath, closing your eyes but then you heard a thud and you turned, seeing a flash of light as Xiao was on one knee, he clutched his polearm as he had struggled breath 

you got up and started coming over to him, "Xiao?"

he turned, "huh?...Stay back!"

you stopped, "why? what happened"

Xiao closed his eyes, you looked closer as you could see a cut on his cheek and his arm as some black embers emitted, you started coming closer "you're hurt"

"It's nothing...I'm fine"

you furrowed your brows, "but...it seems like you're In a lot of pain"

you came closer, Xiao turned with a desperate look in his eyes "Please, don't come any closer or else...you'll be affected by me"

"Affected? by what"

Xiao sighed, "My Karma..."

he then shut his eyes, you came closer until you were next to him and you touched his cheek, this made a blush come to his face, "what're you doing?"

you blushed, "I...well I'd like to help If I can"

Xiao started to smile a little, he then sighed giving you a nod as you supported him, before you started walking back to Wangshu Inn, the sensations of holding his hand like this It felt familiar and not just today but the other times, It gave you a sense of safe and warmth 

you looked to Xiao, just as his golden eyes shined with the starlight from above, a blush came to your cheeks as you then looked forward once more, 

"you...you really shouldn't be close to me like this, I don't want you to be afflicted, the Karma I've gotten as I've purged many monsters and evil spirits"

you nodded, "I understand, but I can't just leave you to suffer right now"

his heart skipped a beat, there I was he thought, one of the many reasons why he fell In love with you, that unending kindness and caring of others, upon getting Into the lift, the rope pulled and started taking you both up to the Inn, and once It came to the top you helped him as you walked inside, and went upstairs to the next level where your rooms were

inside his room, he sat on his bed and dissipated his polearm, so It wasn't in the way, 

"just one moment, I'll be right back" you said

you left his room, just as Xiao's wound on his arm closed up and the black embers went away, you went to get some bandages and a small bowl of water, soon returning to his room

you brought the things over, setting them onto the table next to his bed, 

Xiao started, "you don't h-"

"It's alright, I don't mind"

Xiao gave a nod, he then stayed still as you moved to check on his arm "oh? it's gone"

"We Yaksha's heal quickly, sometimes"

you nodded In understanding, you dipped the cloth In water as you moved to clean the cut on his cheek, he didn't flinch an inch as you did this, he'd felt pain many times worse

as you cleaned the little cut, Xiao couldn't help but look at you, you were very close to him and for some reason this made your heartbeat quicker, but then your eyes met his and there It seemed you couldn't look away from him, his golden eyes were filled with many emotions

without knowing, Xiao had lightly placed his hand on your cheek "ionius"

a small smile came, "Good night"

you returned the smile, you then left his bedroom as you closed the door behind you, placing a hand to your heart as It was still beating fast, and you wanted to know why.
