Chap.12 Memories and Spars

A day later...

you and Xiao were laying In the grass together with your hands laced together, looking up at the beautiful skies at midday while taking in the quietness and peace, after a thousand years of misery Xiao finally felt his soul was finally at peace, and it was you and Traveler who saved him 

you turned to look at Xiao, you smiled "Do you remember, that one time there were many fireflies In this area, long before Wangshu Inn was built"

Xiao gave a nod, "I do, and I'd bring you here during the night"

he gave your hand a squeeze, "perhaps If we're lucky I could show you the same sight tonight"

you smiled as you returned the squeeze, but then Xiao started sitting up as he then gazed down at you with a gentle smile as he caressed your cheek, you held his hand to your cheek 

you started, "Xiao...sorry I...Alatus"

Xiao shook his head, "call me whatever you wish, be It Alatus or Xiao It matters not anymore"

"alright"

you then sat up as you smoothed your white locks of hair, before you stood onto your feet 

"Alatus, would you...resume being my combat teacher"

Xiao looked up at you, "are you sure? the Traveler's done good from what I've seen"

you smiled, "I know, and I'm grateful for the help he's given me but It's just not the same unless It's you...like before"

Xiao smiled and came onto his feet "very well,"

he stood a little away from you as he summoned his polearm, "Show me what you remember"

you gave a nod, summoning your sword with your Cryo Vision as you then both dawned your Yaksha masks, just as the wind began to blow throughout the terrain, you both then disappeared with a flash before you clashed your weapons together, It had been a longtime since you'd traded blows with Xiao and so you forgot how strong he was, the sounds of your weapons meeting filled the air, you sent a wave of your Cryo energy In the form of icy blades, and Xiao dodged as he broke a few of them just like glass

Xiao pushed you back and you tried to stand your ground, but then you stumbled backwards barely dodging as Xiao plunged with his polearm, 

"let's not get too serious, I don't want to hurt you" he said

you blushed a little under your mask, "I'll be alright"

Xiao leapt up and rotated his polearm faster than your eyes could see, and he struck down some of his Anemo energy which made you quickly put up a shield, as Xiao struck It three times with is shattering like ice and he used his powers to send you backwards but Xiao quickly caught you by the waist, and you held onto him as you looked up at him, 

just as your masks disappeared, and his hold on your waist tightened as he brought you into a hug In which you were a little surprised, but then you smiled with a blush as you hugged him back,  and you stayed that way for a moment before you parted a little bit 

and you saw a little cut on his cheek, you touched it "I'm"

"It's just a small wound, don't worry I've had many more scars than this"

you sighed, "I know,"

"which is why I wish to ask...let me help you protect Liyue from now on, just as I told you before you shouldn't have to bare everything alone"

Xiao looked away, "I don't wish to burden you"

"you wouldn't be burdening me, I love you...and I love our home, even though I may still be the cowardly Yaksha I've always been I'll do my very best to protect this place"

Xiao let out a sigh, he then held your hand back "you were never a coward, but If It's what you want to do I won't stop you, then...let's fulfill the remainder of the contract together"

you smiled with a nod, and you pressed a kiss to his cheek which made his face go red, but then he stepped forward as he brought you into a kiss with you kissing back, after you parted you laced your hands together as you started walking together into the direction of Liyue harbor.
