Natasha had to go onto yet another mission... aka your least favourite thing in the world.
You hated when she had to leave on missions, especially when they lasted more than a day. You hated not having her around, even though you were never alone it definitely felt like it. You would often throw a tantrum when it was time for her to leave, but she had a few tricks up her sleeve when it came to calming you.
Even though she made sure to never leave you for too long, this time she had no choice but to leave you for two days, which meant you had to spend the night without her.
The goodbyes were hard. You kept screaming and crying. The team tried to distract you, so Natasha could leave, but it didn't work. Your grip on Natasha was so strong they couldn't pull you off her. It was as if you let her go, she would just disappear forever, and you'd never see her again.
Natasha tried talking to you, telling you it will all be okay, that your family was here staying with you.
You let out a quiet "But I want to stay with you mama." in between your cries which broke her heart.
You tirelessly begged for Natasha to stay, but she kept saying "No Y/n you know I can't do that!" and each time she refused you just kicked, cried and screamed louder. Maybe you were hoping that if you threw a big enough tantrum she would decide to stay. Eventually it was time to try something new, something Natasha knew worked. She was over an hour late and tired she had to do this.
Natasha knew parents weren't supposed to take shortcuts, but she had to do this. She had her witchy friend distract you with her magic. Red wisps were dancing around you. Natasha knew just the sight of Wanda's power would calm you down, but it wasn't enough to loosen your grip around Natasha, so she put you to sleep. And it worked. You were so focused on the red wisps around you that you didn't notice the two orbs coming to your head and sending you to a deep slumber in her arms. Natasha passed you to Wanda giving you one last kiss on your head, and left in the Quinjet.
When Natasha came home after her mission, it was unfortunately way past your bedtime. Natasha was actually looking forward to putting you to bed after missing two days with you, but the mission got delayed a bit and of course she had to sty longer. It was about one in the morning when she came home. Not to her surprise everyone was asleep except.
When the team told you Natasha wasn't coming home before your bedtime that night, a lot of tears were shed. Not a tantrum, just a lot of tears. But that was expected. However, they weren't expecting you crying for hours non-stop. They laid you down on Natasha's bed, wrapped you in her blanket, waited a few minutes and your cries became hiccups and another few minutes, and you were out like a light.
A big smile came on Natasha's face when she saw you sleeping soundly in her bed, like you were waiting for her to come back. It was a nice thing to come home to. She ran to the bed, she didn't even think about getting out of her suit... she was just too eager to finally being able to cuddle with you.
