Author's Note: Two updates in two days?! Oh, hi lol.
Following breakfast, you spend about an hour trying on dresses with Frigga.
"You're finding everything alright in the palace?" She asks as 2 maids help you with the final dress.
You catch Frigga's glance in the mirror, "Yes, of course. Everything is wonderful!" You step down about a minute later, "Though, I was wondering if I would be able to take a walk through the forest near my home before the ball this evening?"
"Absolutely, dear! Would you like me to send a guard or two to escort you?" Frigga walks with you out of the room.
"That will not be necessary. I probably know that area better than them anyway," you laugh. "See you tonight, your majesty."
"Frigga," she corrects you with a smile and hand on your shoulder before continuing her way down the hall.
You head in the opposite direction, into the garden, and then the forest. Nearly a mile from your home is a stream with a bridge crossing over it. It's small, but it's always been a calm, relaxing place for you. After looking and listening to the water flow over some rocks, you sit on the edge, dangling your feet.
You've folded your arms, and are resting your head on the one-sided railing of the bridge, when you hear the creaking of someone walking.
"When my mother said you had come to the forest, this is the first place that had come to my mind," Loki says as he sits next to you.
You keep your eyes on the stream, "Not much has changed here. This place is still..." You trail off, moving your eyes from the stream to the surrounding trees and nature.
"If I remember correctly, you and I met...." Loki points to the right, "just over there."
You look and move his finger a little, "More like....there."
"That is quite literally a 3-foot difference, Hlin," Loki tries to hide his smile and laugh.
"That's you being off 3-feet," you lick your top lip, but do not make any effort to hide your laugh.
Now Loki smiles, "And you wonder why I pushed you into the stream that day! Although, you did pull me in when I offered to help..."
"Who put me there! You SHOULD have helped," you shove his shoulder, causing you both to break out in laughter. "I cannot believe you remember that."
Loki sounds offended, "Do you really think so little of me, that I would forget?"
You shift so you're facing Loki, seeing his serious expression, "I think the realms of you, Loki. I always have."
"You should not. No one else does," Loki says quieter, not taking his eyes off of you.
"Maybe they do not know you like I do," you offer Loki a light smile.
Without realizing, you've both moved closer to one another, "Maybe I do not wish for them to..." Loki continues.
You switch your gaze from Loki's eyes to his lips, "Loki..." you nearly whisper, as Loki does the same to you.
You feel his breath on your lips, when suddenly the bells from the palace begin to ring, causing you both to pull back.
Loki swallows, "...The ball...will start within the hour. We should return."
"Of course. Yes. Good idea," you both stand and teleport back to your separate chambers after a simple nod at the other.
-----------------------------------------
About a half hour later, you're finished getting dressed when there's a knock at your door.
You open it to Sif, "The queen has impeccable taste in dresses; you look amazing!" She says looking you up and down.
"Thanks, Sif!" You notice her blue gown as well, "You look great as well."
She flattens her dress with her hands, "One of the maybe 3 dresses I actually have."
You close your door and you both walk to the ballroom entrance.
Thor and Loki are both standing near the doors, "Lady Sif. Lady Hlin." Thor nods, "You both look lovely."
"We always do," Sif shrugs and they share a laugh. "Though Hlin takes the prize tonight."
Thor switches his eyes to you, "That they do. Isn't that right, Loki?"
Loki has kept his gaze on anything but you, and he does not reply until Thor nudges him, "Yes." Loki finally looks at you, but then quickly away.
Thor gives you an apologetic look, "Come. Let us get a drink." Sif takes your arm and drags your away.
You get lost in the crowd, and a while later, you're leaning on one of the columns next to Sif.
"And now, we will have a partner dance," Odin's voice booms over everyone.
There's a soft murmur and the crowd begins to break. As couples fill the dance floor, you spot Loki sitting, having a great time with a group of people.
"Is a certain prince passing on his opportunity to dance with you?"
You turn around to see Fandral, "What?" Oh, no! I'm not wai...I was just standing here, and..."
Fandral laughs, "Relax. However, I CAN assist in making your prince more green, but with envy."
You nearly spit out your drink, "Loki is not MY anything. We are just frie..."
"Friends. Sure," He rolls his eyes. "And I can lift Thor's hammer! Please, the only ones oblivious to how you both feel, are you and Loki."
"There are no feelings, Fandral," you down the rest of your drink and put the glass down.
"We shall see, then. Let's dance," Fandral pulls you into the middle of the room before you can protest.
Before you know it, three or....six? songs later, you're exhausted after dancing non-stop with Fandral, Sif, and Thor, having a rather good time as well. "That's it for me, guys. I will see you tomorrow at breakfast." You break away leaving the 3 to continue their night.
"Remember what I said, Hlin!" Fandral calls to you as you walk away.
"And remember what I to you," you mock back, earning a wink from him before you turn out of the ballroom.
The sound of the ball is muffled as you make it around a corner.
"You and Fandral seem to be getting along rather well," a voice sounds from just behind you.
