After Luke leaves the office, I wait for the principal to return with my file, the secretary typing away on her keyboard finishing up last minute work.

I hear the door open behind me as I am still somewhat standing in front of still shocked of what Luke had said to me. I turn around to find Ashton standing behind me with a huge smile on his face.

A: Ashton V: Valerie

A: hey, are you here to pick up your file?

V: yeah, I'm just waiting for the principal to get back with it.

A: I see Luke already left.

V: I assume that's why you're here? To find Luke?

A: actually no. I'm here for my file as well.

V: pardon?

A: Calum and Michael already got their files yesterday. Since all our parents work together, they law firm is sending all of our parents to work in Seattle.

V: you guys are moving to Seattle too?

A: yeah isn't that exciting?!

V: sure.

A: you don't seem so happy about it.

V: I'm happy for the change, but I'm not too happy about leaving my friends and Luke hates me so I will have absolutely no one when I move.

A: I don't think Luke hates you and well you'll have me, Calum, and Michael. We all think you're great company, Luke just keeps to himself.

*principal walks out*

Principal: Here you go Miss Davis, Mr. Irwin I have your file ready as well, so here you go.

The principal walks back into his office leaving me and Ashton on our own again.

We both walk to the door, Ashton opening it for me and letting me go first. Thanking him I walked out. Walking down the corridor I feel my phone buzzing in my bag. Pulling it out, I read it's Lucia calling me.

L: Lucia. V: Valerie

V: hello

L: where are you? You're taking forever.

V: just left the office I'm almost to the gates.

L: okay, Rob and I are parked out by the oak tree we sit under before school.

V: I'll be there in 2 minutes.

I hang up the phone and turn to Ashton.

"You're really pretty," I hear him say before he stopped himself. I turn my head back to look at him and he looks quite embarrassed.

A: I'm sorry, it slipped.

V: it's okay, don't worry about it.

A: it's true you know, you're really pretty.

V: thanks for the compliment, but I'm really not.

A: you're kidding right?

V: no? Why would I be kidding?

A: you're the prettiest girl in school, pretty much every guy has a crush on you.

V: me? The prettiest girl in school? Have you seen Lucia? She's the definition of perfect.

A: yes, she's pretty, but you're the girl everyone fawns over.

V: I highly doubt it. Anyways, there are my friends so I'll see you around yeah?
