A Little Bit of Love & Hate (Luke Hemmings & Barbara Palvin)

Chapter 9

Valerie's POV

N: Valerie, sweetie, sit down, it's a long story.

V: What's going on?

N: You've known Luke since seventh grade right?

V: yes?

N: Okay, well you just finished your junior year. During the summer of ninth grade, you and Luke were 16, right?

V: Yeah...

N: During that time, you and Luke were such good friends, and he asked you out. You guys were together up until a week before tenth grade started. You caught Luke and some girl kissing and you dumped him. Luke asked and begged for you to take him back, but you refused. He was your best friend and you knew everything about him.

V: Luke said he was a private person and he didn't like opening up to people.

N: Well he opened up to you before. Anyways, after that, you went back to school and Luke told everyone he dumped you because you weren't pretty enough, he then went around slapping you at school for no reason. You came home and asked me to take you to the mall. You dyed your hair a lighter shade of brown, got some highlights, bought some makeup, edgier clothes, and gave yourself an attitude. You went to school and from what Jonah told me, everyone thought you were the prettiest girl ever. Luke then tried to apologize and you ignored him. He then transformed himself to the skinny jeans, ripped up shirts, a quiff, and lip ring.

V: Luke used to wear khakis and polo's.

I said laughing

N: Right after all of that happened, you got migraines everyday. We took you to the hospital to find out you had a brain tumor. We got you any treatment that would help. After a month you lost hair, so you decided to cut it to where it is now.

V: My hair was so long, you said I cut it because I hated split ends.

N: Let me finish. They had to shave a small area of your head to get the brain tumor out. That's why you had that bald spot that's not there anymore. The tumor, hit some type of nerve, causing you to forget a year of your life. That's why you don't remember the ninth grade. We all decided to spare you the pain and let you go about just like before it all happened.

V: Does Luke know about my brain tumor?

J: No he doesn't, you said you didn't want him to know because you thought he would tell everyone. We told him you got in an accident and hit your head.

At that moment I was so angry with Luke. I burst into tears. Jonah was comforting me and trying to get me to stop crying. I heard the doorbell ring.

My dad got up and I heard Luke's voice in the distance.

N: Luke, it's not a good time.

L: I'm sorry Mr. Davis, but I need to see her.

N: Why?

L: Lucia stopped at my house and told me about Valerie catching on. I would've come earlier, but my mom needed me to pick something up first.

N: Luke, you need to leave.

L: Please let me see her.

N: you can come in, but I don't know if she wants to see you.

I hear footsteps coming into the room and I cry harder.

Jonah rocking me back at forth in this arms. He removed his arm from around me, standing up. I look up to see Luke in the doorway with a sympathetic look on his face. He began walking towards me.

J: Luke, leave.

L: She needs to hear my side of it.

Jonah looked at me before stepping aside. Luke came and sat by me on the couch.

L: Valerie?

He moved his hand to my cheek and started to caress it. I flinched and backed away, scared. When he did that, I remembered everything, the bullying, transformation, everything.

L: Valerie, please don't be scared of me. I would never hurt you.

V: Really? Well it looks like you already have. Now go.

L: Val---

V: GO!

Jonah took Luke out of the room.

*****2 months later*****

((ITS NOW JULY))

A/N: This story takes place in 2014! So now, it's July 2014 in the story.

It's been two months since I was told about my past. Rob, Lucia, and I are still friends. I no longer talk to Luke because he hasn't even tried to contact me since that night, I haven't even seen his face. Rob, Lucia, and I are driving to Lucia's cousin's house for a day by the pool.

I grabbed out my black bikini, shorts, and tank top, with a thin cardigan. Grabbing my sunglasses, I headed downstairs to grab something to eat before Rob and Lucia get here.

I opened some pop tarts and ate those. Once I was done, I heard a car beep from outside. I grabbed my bag and jumped into the car. Lucia was explaining that her cousin's husband invited his brother and his friends.

We got to Maria's house and Lucia introduced us.

L: Maria this is Valerie and Rob.

M: It's so nice to finally meet you guys; my husband is just getting dressed, make yourselves at home.

We were all sipping lemonade before I hear a very familiar voice.

"Valerie Davis! It's been way too long since I've seen you!"

Jack.

Jack Hemmings is Maria's husband.

Meaning Luke is gonna be here today, I am going to face him after 2 months of avoiding him.
