Valerie's POV

I just finished my last exam and it's finally summer vacation. I've never felt so sad for it to be summer. My parents just got a job transfer to Seattle, WA and i hate knowing this will be the last time seeing my friends for a long while. I'm excited for the change in scenery, but there are two downsides.

1) I will be the new kid in town for senior year.

2) Luke Hemmings and his stubborn ass is moving to Seattle along with his family.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Hemmings, it's Luke i can't stand.

I was walking to my locker to grab my bag, I had already packed up my locker before exams started last week, as Lucia, my best friend came up to me.

"Hey, Rob and I planned a fun day for us since you leave for Seattle tomorrow morning so lets get to it." Lucia said excitedly with a hint of fall in her smile.

"Sure lets go, but let me go get my records from the office first." I responded.

We walked to the other side of campus to the office, as we did we were engaged in conversation.

L: Lucia V: Valerie

L: So are you excited for the big move?

V: Sorta, except for the whole Luke moving with me.

L: It will be fine I mean its not like you guys are neighbours or anything. Right?

*silence*

L: Please tell me I'm right.

V: Our parents thought it would be a good idea to be neighbours since Luke will be the only person I know and would be good to live close by.

L: They couldn't get a house a block away? I mean come on Val, you've hated him for the past 4 years, what makes you think it will change now?

V: It won't change, but I need to figure out why he's so secluded I mean it's driving me insane with him hating me. No one has ever given me the cold shoulder for this long and I need to know why—

As I was finishing my sentence, I walked into the office to see Luke himself sitting in the red leather chair of the Secretary's office with a smirk on his face.

L: I'll be waiting for you in the car with Rob.

*Lucia exits*

The principal walks out of his office with a file in hand.

Principal: Mr. Hemmings, here are all your school records, ah Miss Davis, I assume you're here for your records as well?

*I nod my head*

Principal: Very well then, I'll just be a moment.

Luke then stands up and walks over to the door which I was still slightly standing in front of and come up close to my ear, whispering.

Luke: Sorry love, but you'll never figure out why I am the way I am, and don't expect me to give you any less of the "cold shoulder" in Seattle.
