A Little Bit of Love & Hate (Luke Hemmings & Barbara Palvin)

Chapter 14

Luke's POV

I diverted my attention back to Madisen.

She was talking about how she thought I was different and would never do something like this to her. I knew I needed to call it off, but I didn't want to hurt her, she doesn't deserve it.

"Madisen, you're a great girl, but I don't think we should be together."

She looks up at me, and I feel a sting come on to my right cheek. I noticed she slapped me and she left. Here I am standing in the middle of the room on New Years, watching the girl I want to be with sitting in the corner about to leave the party.

She looked beautiful. She had on this little black dress, with black stilettos.

Niall is nowhere to be found and I see Val walking out the door.

I follow after her.

I run after her as fast as I can to reach her. I want to apologize to her because I stepped way out of line and I shouldn't have.

"VAL! PLEASE SLOW DOWN!"

She stops and turns around.

"What do you want Luke?"

"I want to apologize for kissing you."

"Why did you do it? We haven't seen each other in months and out of nowhere you go and do that."

"I know; I'm sorry Val."

She looks at me one more time before getting into her car and driving off. I look up and it starts snowing. I tug at my hair in frustration. She hasn't forgiven me and I need to find a way to get her to.

I go back to the house and get into my car. I start driving home and turn on the radio; All Of Me by John Legend is playing. I start thinking of how he wrote that song for his wife. I got home and ran to my room grabbing my new guitar I got for Christmas.

I started playing a few chords.

It took me a few hours and I didn't finish the chords until 4AM. I get into bed and figured I'd write lyrics tomorrow.

Val's POV

I wake up the next morning remembering what happened last night. I open my curtains and see Luke sitting in his room with headphones on, a notebook and pen in hand and his guitar on standby. His window is cracked a bit so I can hear the chords of the guitar.

I take a shower and slip on some sweats and a fitted black long sleeved crop top. I head downstairs and grab out some pancake mix and bacon. It took me about a half hour to cook it. I sat on the couch with my food on the table in front of me. I start The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I got up an hour later to get ready for the day. I called my friend from school to come over and hang out for a bit. Jessie is my best friend at school, along with Tess and Lacey. Luke still has his "bad boy" reputation. He is pretty popular for being new at school. I just keep to myself as do the rest of my friends. Tess has been dating Michael since my birthday and Jessie is dating the captain of the football team.

Jessie came over a few minutes later and we were talking and just being lazy. We watched movies and made cookies and by 5:30, we ran out of things to do. She ended up getting tired so she went home. I sat on my stool for my keyboard and started singing Nothing Like Us by Justin Bieber. I had my window open and I could hear they guys' band playing. It was a bunch of songs I've never heard before, assuming it was the ones they wrote.

I closed the window and just played my keyboard for a while.
