"Why was he killing those kids?"
"Killing the kids and eating them had some sort of sexual gratification to him," you answered through your teeth. To say you were upset about that man was a severe understatement. Your blood still boiled when you thought about what he did. Granted, it's only been two days but still. Anyone who targeted children was the worst of the worst. "Raphael explained it to me earlier but I wasn't paying much attention."
"Too pissed off?" Alexander asked, raising a brow.
"Something like that," you answered.
"You brought closure to the families who lost their children and stopped others from dying," Diogenes chimed in. "You've done enough."
"No, I didn't," you huffed. "I made his death too quick."
"Okay, you're starting to sound like a demon," Aleksei said, worry lacing his tone. "So you just put a bullet in his head, big deal. He's dead and can't do any harm anymore."
"Besides, we burnt his bones too," Diogenes added. "He will rot and never return."
You smiled a little and nodded, agreeing with Diogenes. The four of you were all gathered in the main living area of the House of the Blessed, discussing the Hunt you were on two days ago. Alexander was able to rope everyone together to participate in the peaceful protest. The more the merrier, he said, welcoming everyone. You were happy that the others decided to join as well. Although, you were concerned about Diogenes and how he reacted to the Hunt. Diogenes saw a child's half-eaten corpse and acted like he was still okay. You knew that he must have seen a lot in his long time on Earth but that didn't mean you weren't worried. It's not every day you see the mutilated corpse of a child. Yet, you found Diogenes comforting you more than you doing that for him.
"I don't know where he went, but I hope he's suffering," you said.
"Who's suffering?" Justaya asked as she walked in with her husband. The couple was carrying quite a load of signs in their hands as they entered the House of the Blessed. Each of the signs read different things, demanding the government do something about the missing women and children. There was plenty for all of you.
"A cannibal that had a particular sweet tooth for adolescent children," you answered, taking a few of the signs from Justaya's arms. Matt invited you to dinner the other night at Justaya's request. There she told you that you and she were far past pleasantries given that you and Matt have saved each other at least once. You used to always call her by her title, similar to Matt, out of respect. "I put a bullet through his head."
"I think you went too easy on that monster," Justaya said, raising a brow. It was obvious she was being sarcastic but that didn't stop Alexander from taking a sharp intake of breath.
"That's what I said," you laughed, picking out a sign for yourself. "As everyone has explained to me, there isn't anything I can do about it now... Wait," you said, trailing off. "Hell exists. If I can just find a way in-"
"No," everyone in the room shouted, scowling at you.
"It was a joke," you laughed, raising your free hand in defence. "You don't need to smack any sense into me nor do you need to call an angel down."
"You're sure?" Alexander said, raising a brow. "You didn't sound like you were joking."
"Yeah... I probably shouldn't have said that," you said, scratching the back of your neck. "I'll try to watch my words more."
"My question is," Aleksei said, taking a sign from Justaya's outstretched hand, "why make it look like an animal attack? Hunters would have investigated if you didn't already."
