"Why are we in Monte Carlo?" Gadreel asked, curiously looking around.
"Your Father wants me to check something out and Raphael doesn't want me investigating it alone," you answered truthfully. "No one else could be spared and I think this would be a good opportunity for you to see other parts of humanity."
"Is that why the demon is with us?" Gadreel asked, referring to Meg.
"One month out of the cell and you've already latched onto the demon stigma," Meg sighed, siping the pop she got earlier. "Shameful."
"You've killed hundreds of thousands of people," you said, raising a brow at her. "I think the stigma is warranted."
"All you Angel-Kissed are the same," Meg huffed, rolling her eyes as she waved a hand, quickening her strides.
"What is that supposed to mean, creature?" Gadreel growled, glaring at Meg. You huffed as you realized that Gadreel's curious nature was finally being subdued by his factory settings. It was only a matter of time before Gadreel started losing his tolerance for Meg but did it really have to happen that second? You needed them both to be focused on what was coming up but first, you had to stop a fight from breaking out.
"That's enough, you two," you huffed, rubbing the bridge of your nose. "Look, we're going to be going to speak to either a group of Tuplas or a legitimate family of Norse Gods," you explained, pulling Meg back so you could face her and Gadreel at the same time. You jabbed a finger at Meg with an accusing tone to your voice. "You're supposed to be protecting me and you're," you jabbed your finger in Gadreel's direction, "supposed to be keeping an open mind, especially to Meg when it comes to me. Argue with each other when there isn't a possibility of me dying, 'k?"
"Yes, ma'am," Gadreel said, straightening up and nodding. "I will refrain from causing conflict for the time being."
"And you?" you asked, narrowing your eyes at Meg.
"I'm not the one who started throwing the insults," Meg scoffed, clearly trying to get a rise from you. It was working.
"Look, I don't have time for this," you growled, summoning your Archangel Blade and pressing it to her throat. You grabbed Meg's shirt and pulled her into the blade, startling the demon as a small drop of blood started crawling down her neck. "God so help me, I will inform Lucifer of your failure."
So... your patience was at an all-time low. With Chuck asking you to bring find Gabriel and make sure he was safe, you were burning the candle at both ends trying to find him. Raphael knew you had an important mission from Chuck but he didn't know what it was, having asked you and Chuck but received only a vague explanation. You desperately wanted to tell Raphael that you were looking for Gabriel and it was eating you alive, but Chuck still wanted to respect Gabriel's wish of staying hidden from his brothers. If Gabriel wanted to show Heaven that he was indeed alive, it would be on his terms. With that being said, you spent the last week in the House of the Blessed's library searching the records of different hotels and private lands to track down Loki and his three sons.
The thing about this Loki and his sons was that they could very well be Tulpas instead of the legitimate Pagan Gods. Raphael made sure you understood that Hunters never went after the actual Pagan Gods, they have only ever gone after Tulpas without knowing. As Raphael explained it, Tulpas were creatures created by multiple people simultaneously believing in one thing. You even came to the realization that there could be tulpas of God and Jesus roaming the world. Hell, there may be one for each of the Archangels too. Unlike the Tulpas, Pagan Gods didn't eat human flesh unless that was required in their worship such as Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec Sun God, who previously died at his sister, the Aztec Moon Goddess, Coyolxauhqui long ago when the celebratory blood sacrifices ended. The Tulpas' of Pagan Gods mainly ate human flesh because of Hunters and their beliefs surrounding Pagan Gods purposely killing their worshippers and eating them. In reality, Pagan Gods stayed in their respective Heavens and Underworlds, occasionally popping down to grant a prayer to a deserving worshipper or simply to visit if time allowed. Heaven often worked with many of the Pagan Gods after Lucifer's fall and God's departure, Anubis helping with judging souls being the most notable.
