This is a Weird Way to Reconcile

"I didn't mean for this to happen, Michael," Lucifer growled, fists clashing with his brother's. "It was just supposed to be a manipulation tactic."

"You sent the Princes of Hell after her, Lucifer," Michael shouted, breaking away from the standstill. "Not just simple demons. The Princes of Hell. Tell me how you honestly thought that would go."

"Hm, let's see," Lucifer hummed, mocking a thoughtful expression before pouncing at Michael. "I assumed that my creations that have been loyal and fearful since the beginning would listen and follow my every order perfectly. I don't think that's an unfair assumption."

"You were loyal to Father when he first created you and look at you now," Michael growled, grabbing Lucifer and throwing him.

"Dad decided to throw me away when I was having trouble with the Key," Lucifer yelled, correcting his trajectory. "He couldn't have put that fucking thing on himself, could he? Dad knew what it would do, that it and parts of the darkness it contained would become part of me!"

The Key was a mark God used to lock his sister, the Darkness, in a cage not too different from Lucifer's. Or, rather, Lucifer's cage wasn't that much different from hers. The Key was now known as the Mark of Cain, a dangerous mark that belonged to the first Knight of Hell, Cain. In the Bible, the Mark was both a blessing and a curse that Cain received from God. A curse that Cain could never forget his sins and a blessing that kept Cain alive from anyone who tried to kill him. That information was false. Cain only received banishment from God, it was Lucifer who passed on the Mark to Cain. Lucifer found Cain, angry and at a weak point, wondering about the Earth and convinced Cain to take on the Mark, promising to guide Cain and help him through his grief and anger. Cain agreed and was turned into the first Knight of Hell, obeying every single one of Lucifer's orders until the extinction of the Nine Knights of Hell.

"You should have just left her alone," Michael argued. "But you had to take her!"

"She was my ticket to Raphael," Lucifer said. "I hate how I have to reunite with you two over a battle. I wanted to alter that."

"And a hostage situation was any better?" Michael yelled, launching himself at Lucifer. "You're out of your mind!"

"200 thousand years in a cramped cage will do that to ya," Lucifer growled, grinning evilly as he grabbed Michael. "You should really try it out."

Lucifer grabbed Michael by the neck and dove backwards. They flipped through the air as the two Archangels plummeted to the ground, Lucifer using his wings to trap Michael's. Lucifer and Michael had both spotted the Impala and it was clear that Lucifer, instead of killing his brother, had decided to trap him for a few decades in the cage Michael trapped Lucifer in all those centuries ago. He spotted Sam and Dean driving down below a while ago, Lucifer just needed to get his hands on those rings. Perhaps he could call upon Death to retrieve them for him? Either way, it would be great for Michael to get a taste of his own medicine.

Just before the pair hurtled into the street, a familiar force caught them. It was as if the Archangel Brothers were being cradled, something that they haven't felt since the beginning of Creation. Lucifer completely disregarded his plan as he released Michael's throat, frantically looking around for his Father. Michael also sat up and looked around as the brothers hovered ten feet from the ground. The air around them was soft and buoyant like the dense clouds guarding Heaven, a feature their Father implemented so his children could live comfortably in Heaven. God had to be nearby or at least watching them. Was he finally returning? What brought him back? What made him leave in the first place?

"Lucifer, do you see anything?" Michael asked, scanning his surroundings with both his eyes and Grace.

"Nothing yet," Lucifer said, glancing around. "He's not here... right?" Lucifer whispered, a tear threatening to fall from his vessel's eyes. Lucifer had a lot of mixed feelings towards his Father but it was at that moment that he realized, he missed God a lot more than he thought. Yes, Lucifer was still pissed off for what happened to him, and he had every right, but that didn't erase all the wonderful memories he did have with God and his brothers before and during Creation. Most of the time, those memories fueled his anger while other times... Well, that wasn't important. "Dad wouldn't actually be here, right?
