"Choose your next words carefully," Lucifer said, not bothering to look at you.
"What's got your feathers in a twist?" You asked, trying to meet Lucifer's eye. Looking at Meg, you raised a questioning brow. Meg just shrugged and shook her head, also unaware of why Lucifer was in a mood. You sighed and shook your head, waving Meg away. "You have work to do, I'll try to get him out of this funk."
"Funk?" Lucifer growled, looking over his shoulder at you. Only one of his eyes was visible between his wings and it was glowing red.
"Oh, boy," you hissed, motioning for Meg to go. "It's worse than I thought."
"Yeah, I wouldn't stick around if I was ordered to," Meg said, giving you a half-hearted salute. "Good luck."
"Just go," you said, shooing her away.
Meg wasted no time running out of the throne room, not wanting any part of whatever was putting Lucifer in a mood. You were summoned down to Hell by Lucifer for whatever reason after maybe three hours after you had tea with Life and Death. Raphael told you about Lucifer wanting you down in Hell not long after Life dropped you off in Raphael's library. The two of them had a nice chat before Life had to get back to her work of cultivating life and doing Mother-Natury things. You were a little surprised that Raphael would even agree to it but agreed to do it, suspicious of the brothers. A few theories were circling around your head over what the reason for your visit was. One of those theories was that Raphael told Lucifer the story Death told you about him. Luckily, you had an idea that could probably get him out of his mood.
"I guess you heard about my little tea party with Life and Death," you said, crossing your hands behind your back.
"Mhm," Lucifer hummed, his gaze going back to the scroll in his hand.
You huffed, partially annoyed with Lucifer's dismissiveness. If you knew anything about Raphael or Lucifer, you knew that Lucifer would have had to beg Raphael to let you visit him in Hell. It must've been even harder to convince Raphael to let you come down with a demon as an escort instead of a Garrison. The room Meg brought you to was very new, it was a throne room that didn't exist until about a month ago. By a month, you meant a month on Earth. Lucifer had this thing installed where Asmodeus' old lab was almost a decade ago by Hell's standards.
It looked nothing like the lab used to, it looked like a regal fucking throne room. The cell Gabriel was kept in was completely sealed up and filled with nothing but obsidian brick, never to be used again. Red satin hung from the ceiling and was pulled back to the side walls by black ropes, one wall candelabra sitting between each curtain up until the end of the room where Lucifer's throne sat on a dais. Lucifer, of course, had to get a showy throne with a black frame, red velvet for the seat and back, and golden accents that could draw anyone's eye.
"Y'know," you said, walking up to Lucifer, "I got to see the Garden of Eden, heard about all you did for it too. It's gorgeous, Lucifer."
"Thank you," Lucifer said, a smug tone to his voice. "Life and I worked hard until it became a sanctuary for Adam."
"Life says it's a little smaller than it used to be but you're welcome to visit as long as you give her a heads-up," you said, stepping around Lucifer's wings so you could see his face. "I think you'd like what she's done with the place, it looks like she saved a lot of the animals that should be extinct too."
"Did she?" Lucifer hummed, turning so his back was facing you. In doing so, his wings brushed over you and made you shiver. They were colder than usual, you almost needed a jacket with how cold Lucifer was making the room. "I suppose I will have to contact her then, it's been too long."
