The Mark of Cain is in My Very Incapable Hands

"Remind me never to drive with you again," Adam said, practically ripping off his helmet.

"Oh, don't be dramatic," you said, waving your hand. "I was doing everything safely, you're just not used to the lack of a seatbelt or metal shell while on the highway." You rested your helmet on your hip as you watched Adam walk around in a circle and take deep breaths. "Look, if you want me to drive slower, I'll do it. Motorcycles aren't for everyone."

"But we still need to get there," Adam sighed, sitting down with a huff. "I'm sorry..."

"Don't be," you said, sitting next to him. "We don't have that much left to go, another break won't hurt."

You and Adam have been on the road for two hours now, looking at every registered beekeeping farm in Missouri for Cain. Chuck was able to narrow down your search to one area of Missouri, saying that Cain was able to instate warding that even he couldn't see through. With Chuck's help narrowing the search and your knowledge of what Cain did in his retirement, you and Adam just needed to do some research into how many beekeeping farms there were in Missouri. You still had a few more to check out and the next one was a good half-hour drive according to Raphael, but you were willing to wait for Adam a little longer.

While you and Adam were on your little expedition, Chuck and Lucifer were preparing what they needed to free Amara. Chuck was able to make contact once more to explain the situation to his sister and asked her if she wanted to be called something other than the Darkness. As it turned out, she liked the name Amara when Chuck suggested it and decided that she would be called Amara from then on. You also learned that Lucifer was going to pop down to his demons and explain that the Apocalypse was no longer a thing and that they just needed to cause chaos like usual to keep balance. There was also a large man-hunt for Crowley and he had to be brought to Lucifer alive. That kept the demons busy so you and Adam had yet to encounter one which was a rare occurrence on its own but the threat being greatly diminished was a nice perk. Though, if one did show up, Raphael and Michael would take control and defuse the situation so you and Adam wouldn't get hurt.

"So, you're not mad that this is the third break in two hours?" Adam snorted, raising a brow at you.

"Not at all," you laughed, lightly smacking Adam's shoulder. "I want you to feel safe and then we'll keep going. Besides, it's not like Cain's going anywhere."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Adam sighed, taking some deep breaths.

A light breeze gently blew threw your hair as you and Adam took some time to relax, the sound of cars rushing by on the highway behind you adding a strange calmness to your break. You and Adam were seated in the ditch on the side of the road and looking out at the fields. It made a rush of nostalgia wash through you. While Missouri wasn't Saskatchewan, their separate landscapes were similar enough for the area to feel familiar in some way. You were so wrapped up in relaxing in the sunlight that you didn't hear the car pull up to the shoulder of the highway where you and Adam were only a few feet away. Michael and Raphael had to warn you and Adam about the person approaching you.

"What the Hell are you doing lying in the grass?" A familiar voice asked, making you chuckle. "Don't you have some other bullshit to be doing?"

"Taking a break from the road, Rufus," you sighed, not bothering to look at him. "You're free to join us."

"Now why would I do that?" Rufus asked, crossing his arms.

"Because it takes a lot of energy being an asshole," you said, smirking at him. "Take a break for five minutes."

"Fine, but I'm not sitting in some dirty ass grass," Rufus huffed, standing next to you.

"You're a Hunter, Rufus," you snorted as Adam glanced between you and Rufus. "I'm willing to bet my soul that you've sat in worse." You raised your hand and gestured at Adam, getting started on introducing the two. "Rufus, this is Adam. Adam, Rufus," you said, gesturing to Rufus before pointing at the man accusingly. "Play nice."
