Chapter 21

"You might want to hold on!"

I quickly grab his waist and brace myself. No way am I getting hurt again!

Pit grips the reins and suddenly we go really fast! all I can see is ... well, uh nothing really. We are going too fast! As soon as it starts its over. I look up from behind Pit and see Lady Palutena's temple! Finally some peace!

Dark runs up to us "Did you get hurt??" he asks looking me all over. "No I mean, it's not like I broke my leg or anything...!" I say sarcastically. He looks at Pit with accusation "PIT, WHAT DID YOU DO NOW?!" Pit backs off shrugging. "Come on let's get you in." Dark says at last, I gesture to my leg "Oh, yeah right..." he deadpans.

Lady Palutena finally comes "Y/N, I heard you broke your leg!" she says concerned. I nod"Ok, one of you two carry her to her room." this causes an outbreak

"I'm not carrying her again! She's too heavy!"

"You're not too good yourself! Maybe you are just weak!"

"I AM NOT A HORSE!"

(AN: I think you can guess who is who....)

"Pit, Dark Pit! I am shocked at you, you are senior officers! Start acting like you are! You two will carry Y/N. Y/N and I are not doing all the work around here!" Lady Palutena scolds them. The two angels both flinch and my eyes widen.

"One eats burnt food all the time and the other eats food from the floor!" Lady Palutena continues. Wow, she must be really annoyed!

The two heave me out of the chariot and lift me together and they hastily walk into the temple to escape Lady Palutena who is still complaining about them:

"One is like a child! The other is like a teenager!"

I laugh as Pit scowls and Dark grits his teeth in annoyance. "You know I could get used to this!" I smirk, the two only glare at me.

"Sow some respect! I am a god after all." I tease them enjoying being the one with the upper hand for once. We finally reach my room and they dump me on the bed. Then one sits at the edge of my bed and the other sits on my table.

"What?" I ask them "I'm not facing her!" Dark protests. "Well maybe she will face you!" I giggle hearing footsteps. The door bursts open and Pit screams.

"Lady Palutena haha!" Pit laughs nervously she just gives them a pointed look and goes to me. "Ok Y/N, I can fix your leg. But you will have to stay in bed for a day." She says soothingly. She grips my leg and I feel a warm pulse on it. and then it is gone.

"L-lady P-palutena-a?" Pit asks her scared. She turns to him "Yes?!"

"We're sorry." Dark shuffles his feet.

Lady Palutena only smiles "You don't need to be, you are still growing and I can't expect you to be perfect. I also find your err... uh habits amusing." Pit gives her a big hug.

"Goddess's pet." Dark whispers to me.

Lady Palutena comes up to Dark "I shouldn't let what Viridi thought of you to define you to me." she says and leaves the room.

"What did she mean by that?" I ask him.

He looks embarrassed "I uh... g-got fired by Viridi...." he admits. Pit gasps in shock "HOW?!" I slap his arm motioning to Dark who is looking very uncomfortable.

"I uh, accidentally burnt her temple down." he looks away "I just wanted to help, I wanted to be good! But I guess even that isn't possible for me.

Dark's Flashback

I returned two hours later to see how the burnt cookies I was making for Viridi were doing in the oven.

I saw a fire emerge from the oven.

This wasn't a good idea...

"WHAT DID YOU DO?! YOU BURNT MY WHOLE TEMPLE! OH, YOU ARE SO FIRED!" Viridi yells at me. Wow dark you try to be good and you end up worse.

"Viridi! Please!"

"NOPE! OUT YOU GO!"

I dejectedly fly out hoping I can find a job at Palutena's temple. Suddenly something bumps into me "HEY WATCH IT!" I snap. "Apologies." says a voice. I look down it's an angel "Who are you?!"

"I'm Y/N."

Flashback over

I didn't know that.

"Dark, I'm sorry." I say meaning it. "I'm sorry I asked." Pit says looking really guilty. He just nods and leaves the room. "Poor Dark." I say biting into a cookie Pit sighs "I didn't know he felt that way!" he wailed "I should have known! I'm his twin, well not really, but you get the idea!" and with that Pit also leaves.

I roll my eyes "Boy drama" I say under my breath.

I take the crutches Lady Palutena left by the bed and set off to find Dark. I wobble, crutches are hard! I finally find him in his room buried under pillows and a comic open covering his face.

"Dark?"

"Go away."

"I want to talk to you."

"No you don't!"

"Yes I do!"

"What is there to talk about?!"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean it's a fact!"

"What's a fact?"

"That Pit is good and I am bad!"

"That's not true!"

"It is! I'm his opposite! I'm his clone!"

"You are your own person!"

"People expect me to be bad!"

"You don't have to be!"

"People expect me to be his opposite!"

"You are no one's opposite!"

"Yes I am, I can't even keep a job!"

"You're still in this job!"

"It's only a matter of time!"

"You are not getting fired!"

"Face it! I can't be good, I can only be Pit's opposite!"

"No you face it! You can be good!"

"I can't! My existence is because Pit stupidly looked in some mirror!"

"YOUR EXISTENCE IS BECAUSE OF FATE!"

I don't know why but I start crying. His words re just so sad, I was never this emotional before! I sit on the floor and drop my crutches to cover my face with my hands. I feel a hand on my back "I'm sorry Y/N." Dark's voice says "I will try to be good, you're right. I am my own person." I give him a hug he tenses up and hugs back.

"Thanks for being there for me Y/N. Thanks for being my best friend."
