Chapter 21: Tea Time Was Interrupted, And Then Some

I was currently reading in a cafe, I didn't know what it was called but I went in anyway. At my table with a cup of tea in hand, I took a sip. It tasted great, not gonna lie. I felt rather relaxed. With the sweet taste of the tea and the coolness of the A/C, along with the quiet yet soothing atmosphere of the Cafe, there wasn't anything that could br-  I looked out the window to my left, seeing a girl tap on the glass. It was Lapus, I didn't expect to see her at all. She didn't stay long, walking away afterwards. I looked as she crossed the street, then walked along the sidewalk. Something unexpected, she took a detour into an alleyway. It took a moment but she was inevitably followed by a small group of thugs. Just three of them. Well, time to go be the hero. I got up from my table, leaving my payment of ¥5000 under my cup.

I walked out and across the street, into the same alleyway a moment later. There I see the sight of a small girl, cornered by men dressed in black. Since I always got my holster with me at all times, I had access to a knife. I looked down the alleyway, straight at Lapus. I put my finger on my lips, hoping she saw. I was in her line of sight but she didn't look directly at me - smart. I slowly creep upto the thugs, knife ready. Sometimes I wish I owned a gun though. At least a pistol, or a sniper rifle...wait a minute. I put my thoughts aside, since I'm right next to these boneheads. They were in the midst of pulling their pants down but I was able to make my attention known by stabbing two of them in the legs. They were caught off guard, but were able to assess the situation. "G-get her!" One of them shouted. I took a step back from them, about 10 feet away. The two I stabbed were pretty much out of the fight, on the floor groaning in pain. So it was a 1v2, nothing too difficult. The first one ran towards me, probably to tackle me. His arms were out and everything. I moved to the right, slashing his arm pretty good. Some of his blood got on my face though - gross. It was done to this last guy. He didn't want any smoke, so he grabbed his injured friends and booked it. The guy I slashed got up and ran behind him, leaving the scene. A coward, yet smart move. Well that's done with, so I go walk towards the girl, seeming frightened. I'm not judging. "You're okay right?" I ask while cleaning the blood off my knife. Lapus gave me a frantic nod of the head. She seems put off and I don't blame her. "T-thank you," she said out loud. I returned the nod as a 'You're welcome' - think she got the message. After that, we both went our separate ways.

"Hololive Productions, Yuujin A speaking." "If you see Lapus at all, please see that she gets some form of medical attention," I asked. "Reason is because a few minutes ago, she nearwy got robbed and such." I only heard a surprised "Oh" from the other line. "I'll remember that. Anything else?" Actually, there is. "Anywhere I can buy an airsoft gun?"

Everyone was tending to me like I had just been in a car accident. I get that I was just in a life-or-death situation, but I'm fine. I say everyone like all the Idols were in the room, but it was just Aqua, Mio, Ayame and Oozora Subaru, a new face. "You sure you're okay?" Mio asked me, reminding me of someone's mother. "Yes yes, I'm fine. I didn't get hurt but I did all the hurting." At my remark, she took a sigh of relief. Now that I think about it, that fight was easy. Martial arts weren't needed at all, but I can only hope that makes them stop. But I highly doubt it. Ayame came upto me and suddenly embraced me, my face was just buried in her neck. I think she was scared I did get hurt, huh. "Well, glad you're okay, Sutōkā-san," Subaru spoke up. Her voice sounded like a joke - I wanted to laugh. "I always am." My speech was muffled but jt got through. A minute later, I was set free from Nakiri's clutches. She was as bubbly as ever, which was reassuring to me. But I gotta be more careful. Yeah, I didn't get a scratch but the inevitability of that happening again, with more thugs, is possible. I read somewhere that it's next to impossible for a civilian like me to own a sniper rifle, but that's nothing to be concerned about. I'll just get an airsoft replica to scare off any good I see. But I'll need an actual gun if things get ugly. Figure things out later on, I don't need to stress over the future. Back to reality, Aqua finally did something other than have a scared look on her face. It was her turn to give me a hug, but it was a normal hug. It felt nice actually, so I hugged her back. "What are we doing Aqua?" I ask out loud, Subaru scoffed in the background. "I am hugging my friend," she responds. That's true I guess.

I was out of there, roaming through the empty halls. It didn't take long however for me to run into someone, but it was someone I really wasn't expecting to see out of her room. "Doing okay?" I ask in a calm manner. "Finished with the first batch, and onto the next," Friend-A replied, sounding the part - stressed. "You need help?" "I could use some for now, yeah." Surprisingly, she accepted my offer. It's settled, so we make our way to A-Chan's office. Of course it only took a few seconds to get there, I'm grateful for the weird concept of time this world has to offer. Upon arriving, the room was the same as it was the last time. A bed, a chair and a desk. There was also a TV with a PS5, I can safely assume that's for her breaks. "So what's the work boss?" From what she told me afterwards, it didn't sound difficult - it was just a lot. She took her seat at the desk while I sat on the floor next to her, on my knees so I could get a view. "Just some logistics. Though things change everyday, so does my workload." A sigh left her mouth after she said that. I can understand that. "I'll get my half finished, then you can take over from there." "How long will your half take?" I asked her, to which she didn't reply immediately. It took a good ten seconds, but she gave me an answer. "About 2 hours or so." I deadpan. She really wants me to wait that long? "Alright. I'll take over while you relax," I got up saying. She was confused at first, but eventually didn't fight it. I have no problem doing her work. A-Chan's the most hardworking person I know - besides myself. Every time I see her, she's doing work. So for now, I'll do her work. "Go play video games. I got this work." She shrugged her shoulders, doing as she was told by someone younger than her. The TV was on, so was the console. For the next hour and thirty minutes, I did the work, while my friend over there played Minecraft - the console version.

"Done." an hour and half later, I let her know. She was invested in her little world so I didn't bother her. "Was that all the work for today?" A short while later, she answers. "Until I get more of course." That's good to hear. Yagoo or someone else expects her to be done in a few hours, so she's got a lengthy break. I didn't want to disturb her so I decided to take my leave. "I'm going. See you later A-Chan." She gave me her goodbyes, up until I exited. At least she's good at Minecraft. Well, the console version.
