🦋Your past is heavy, put it down.🦋

Raelynn's pov:

The place where the meeting will be held was decent. It was in a building on the 10th floor. As soon as we walked into the lobby, I got a few stares from the people waiting, no doubt because of my outfit.

When we stepped out of the elevator on the 10th floor, there was a bodyguard who handed us a file. Ryker took it before we walked to the meeting room. Since only the leader was allowed inside, their bodyguards were in a separate room closer to the meeting room.

The door opened and we walked inside.

My eyes roamed around and I noticed a lot of familiar faces, among them there was Jules and Kyson. Jules was with the other leaders socialising while Kyson was sitting on his designated chair, typing on his phone.

On the big table, there was a paper where our names were written. I know it seems a little wedding like but whoever organised this meeting knows the struggle of having multiple leaders together.

There were times when there would be fights between leaders over a fucking seat. Some leaders like to provoke each other.

"I'll meet Jules, you coming?" Ryker asked by my side.

"You go ahead, I'll join you later," I said and he nodded. He made his way to Jules and the other people.

I walked to the table, looking around at the names. I found ours easily.

Raelynn... Ryker... Jules... Kyson...

Those were the arrangement for our seats. I stopped by Kyson who didn't notice me yet. Today he was in a beige suit, a white shirt-which the two first buttons were open- and his signature hairstyle, a tight bun and a few strands of hair on his forehead.

I was starting to like his style.

"Someone seems lonely," I commented, making him look up. He did a double take before an unexplainable expression flashed on his face. However, it was gone as soon as it came.

"And I'll like it to remain this way." He spoke firmly.

"Shouldn't have said that," I said before pulling the chair next to him and sitting down.

He stared at me, "You are annoying."

I chuckled, "I know."

He shook his head going back to his phone. Honestly, I didn't mind sitting beside him even if he was ignoring me. I would rather have him ignore me than the other leaders gawking at me or my body.

"Why are you sitting beside someone who is ignoring you?" I heard Kyson ask. I shift my gaze on him only to find him staring at his phone.

"Why are you ignoring me?" I inquired pointedly.

He briefly looks up at me.

"I'm in no mood for socialising today." He replied firmly.

I wonder if this is the real reason.

"What got you in such a mood?" I inquired.

I honestly wasn't expecting him to reply.

"I have important things to do but because of this meeting, I'm stuck here." He replied as he put his phone on his lap.

He looked up at me, his piercing blue eyes bored into my hazel ones.

"Do you have any idea why we were called here?" I asked him, curiously.

"No, they didn't tell anyone." He answered.

I absent-mindedly nodded.

"By the way, how's Natalie?" I asked as I suddenly remembered her.

"She's good, she's slowly getting out of the trauma." He said and I nod.

"That's great."

"I thought Ryker would have updated you on her." He added making me confused.

"Ryker?"

"Yes, he called Theo last Tuesday to ask about her. I presumed he would have told you." He explained.

Last week we were really busy but looks like Ryker found some time to call Theo. I think he's concerned about Natalie because of Anna, his ex-girlfriend. He doesn't want Natalie to end up like Anna... dead.

"Theo told us about Anna," Kyson spoke making my eyes snap to his.

"I would suggest him to keep his mouth shut because Ryker doesn't like his private life to be rumoured around. If he finds out it's Theo, he'll kill him." I told Kyson.

"He only told me and Valentino. Everything said among us, remains among us." Kyson stated.

"Good,"

"Hello,"

We turned to our left side and saw Jules and Ryker approaching us. I stood up as I was sitting in Jules' place.

"Hey, it's okay sit down," Jules told me.

"No, I'm fine," I reassured him.

"Nonsense." He said as he got closer to my seat. He grabbed the paper with my name on it and swap it with his paper.

"You didn't have to," I insist.

"No problem," he smiled, "Plus it looks like you both were having a nice conversation, sorry that I interrupted you."

Ryker chuckled.

"Nothing of that sort," I commented.

"Sure," Jules gave me an-I-don't-believe-you look.

Both him and Ryker sat down in their spot. I sat down, looking at Kyson, "Looks like you are stuck with me today."

He was already leaning in his seat, looking at me.

"I'm so lucky," he commented dryly.

I rolled my eyes.

"I get that you don't want to socialise today but that doesn't give you the right to be an asshole," I said quite low so that only he could hear me.

He clenched his jaw, staring at me.

"You are seriously testing my patience and control right now." He stated.

I raised an eyebrow.

"Control?" I inquired.

"Yes, no one calls me names and gets away with it." He spoke firmly.

Really?

"What will you do if I push the limits of your control?" I dared to ask.

He slowly and dangerously leaned toward me, his face close to my face, "I have my ways to take care of that big mouth of yours."

His eyes briefly shift on my lips before he looked back at me.

Huh?

That caught me off guard.

He leaned back in his seat, his eyes not leaving mine. There was a promise in these words showing that he wasn't kidding.
