That night Valerie swiped the keycard on the pad, and crept down to the boiler room, Henry was waiting for her, this time he didn't give her a scare. Like he said he would. Valerie adjusted her gloves and walked closer to him. Looking around for a flaw, nothing. It seemed too perfect to be true.

"What did I tell you? Nothing. No cameras, nothing, the perfect meeting spot," said Henry, walking closer, holding his hands behind his back.

"A little too perfect, there has to be a flaw somewhere." Valerie replied, thinking logically.

"But there isn't." Henry took a step closer, with the slightest hand movement, he pushed Valerie's chin, holding her gaze, he continued, "I've been sneaking down here, everyday, trying to find a flaw in the build construct. I've discovered through careful observation that there is in fact a flaw in the build construct."

"What is it?"

Henry turned his head to something, "Come." He led her to a grate, "This grate leads to the outside and to freedom. The only issue is-" Henry leaned his head to the right, pressing a finger into his skin, a bump showed, "This. We both have one, now, we need someone to remove one of ours so then one of us can remove the others."

"Who? Who would help us?" Valerie asked, taking his hand and hers.

"Now, we just have to convince one of the test subjects to help us, you know who I'm talking about, do you?"

Eleven? The girl we've been favoring? Valerie thought.

"Number Eleven. Yes, she'll most likely help us because we will help her."

"How will we help her? I mean, she probably doesn't trust us right now." Valerie scratched her neck with her free hand.

"I was thinking, we could give her tips. Gain her trust, you know and get to remove them."

"Then what? What happens after she removes them?"

"We... are... free. Free from this place. This hell, if you would. Remember what I told you about this place being a prison. If we can convince her to remove them. We won't have to be prisoners here... anymore. And that's what you want, right? To be free." Henry's fingers curled around her hand.

"You promised that we would, " muttered Valerie, "You promised that I would be free. That we would be free."

"And I intend to fulfill it. All we need is a little cooperation from our friend. And we will be free. The other children practically despise her, you've seen the way they act during training."

"I have, yes. What's your plan?" Valerie asked.

"We give her tips and then lead her to this pipe. She'll hopefully have sympathy, then remove mine, then I'll remove yours. We'll kill everyone in this lab. It's simple."

"What if I can't be what I once was?"

He sighed, "That won't happen, our powers don't just disappear like that."

Valerie rolled her left sleeve up, the numbers 003 still solidly written on her wrist. Valerie exhaled, "It's been almost nine years."

"It's been nearly twelve years since this was inserted." He pointed a finger to the bump on his neck, he rolled his sleeve up, 001 was written on his wrist.

They stood in silence. One hand gripping the other's, one sleeve rolled up to their elbows.

Valerie crouched down beside the grate, breaking the silence, "How are we going to fit?"

Henry knelt on the ground, looking past the grate into the pipe, "We're not going to fit." Valerie stared at him, a confused expression, filled her face, "We're not going to escape through this. Eleven will or could. If she doesn't want to help us, then she can escape. If she doesn't she'll help us. And take the chip out of one of us."

"Then how are we going to escape? Isn't the lab heavily guarded?"

"I already told you, we've going to kill everyone. Then run out the front doors to our freedom," said Henry, with a smile getting to his feet.

Valerie nodded, rising, "Okay." She rolled her sleeve back, "Does this lead to the other side?"

"What do you mean by the other side?"

"The outside, the outside world."

"It does, yes."

"So we're putting our trust in a girl that we barely know?"

"Basically, yes." Henry replied, pulling his sleeve back into place.

"And the chip has a tracker? It's tracking us right now?"

"Yes. It is. But the people who follow the tracker just see us as in the building. They don't know what level we're on."

"Good, so they can't come down here and... possibly kill us." Henry nodded, "So that's the plan. We get Eleven to remove the chip and then go on a murder spree?"

"Basically."

Valerie nodded, turning to the door, she walked to the door. Then up the stairs, walking through the winding halls into her room, opening the safe under her bed. She pulled her journal out, flipping to the next blank page.

Dear Dairy, 8/31/1979

Today, Henry and I met in a new spot. He showed me a grate that leads to a pipe, where some small child could fit, but we can't. Eleven is going to hopefully help us. Free us.

The plan is to give Eleven tips and then give her a key card, then she'll go to the boiler room, where we'll be waiting. Then fate will take its turn. I just hope she'll remove the chip from one of our necks, unlocking our powers and turning the tracker off.

I trust him, I trust with my life. My freedom. Now I understand that "manipulating" a child is normally a bad thing. But if you've been trapped in a prison for nearly sixteen years, then you'll know what my situation is like.

-V.H.

She sighed, it's a good plan, but there are a few flaws. She thought, now fate will take over, it hopefully is on my side.
