Valerie and Henry snuck into the boiler room. The door opened, signifying that Eleven was here. Valerie turned a steam valve. Making it hiss, and pushing Eleven right into Henry.
"Quiet." He whispered, "Follow me."
They crouched next to the pipe, Valerie pulled the cover off, "Now, it's going to be a bit scary in here."
"But this, this will lead you out beyond the lab fence into the woods." Henry finished.
Eleven turned to the two, "But, both of you are too big."
Henry took Eleven's hands in his, "We're not going with you, Eleven. I meant what I said, when I called this place a prison. And everyone here is a prisoner. Not just your brothers and sisters, but the guards, too, the nurses. Us. Here." Guiding Eleven's hand to his neck, making her feel the chip, "Do you feel it? Your Papa calls it Soteria. It weakens me. It tracks me. Even if there was another way out, he will find me. And if he finds me, he will find you."
Eleven swallowed, "What if I make it go away? You helped me. I help you."
Henry smiled a wide smile, glancing at Valerie.
"Remember, you can't hurt me more than they already have." He placed his belt in his mouth.
Eleven stood with her hand held out. Valerie watched as the flesh tore and the chip flew onto the ground. Henry walked to it and picked it up, pinching it between his fingers, "Who knew something so small could cause so much trouble." Glancing at Eleven, "Thank you." He stated.
He rose, turning to Valerie, who gulped, then untied her belt, sticking it in her mouth, she bit down hard. He raised his hand and the chip went flying out of her skin. Her eyes closed, focusing on something, no. Heartbeats getting louder.
"I can hear... heartbeats, getting louder." Valerie muttered, her eyes shot open, "People are coming."
The door burst open, "There they are!" A guard exclaimed, "Stop!"
"Run!" Henry shouted, taking Eleven's hand.
"I'll meet up with you, I'll be fine, go!" Valerie exclaimed, running in a different direction.
"Be careful, Val!" Henry cried.
She knew her way around the boiler room, according to her calculations there should be a door right at the end of this row. Her calculations were correct.
Henry, where are you? She asked.
We're in between hallways 5B and 7C. You should know them. Henry communicated telepathically, adding, We're trapped.
Don't worry. I'm coming. Valerie sprinted through the corridors, skidding around corners, seeing a few guards standing.
"Surprise assholes." She said, raising her left hand and pushing them down the hall.
Appearing in the hall where Henry and Eleven stood. Her eyes widened and she ran to Henry, embracing him tightly, "It's been such a long time."
"I know. Come." He stated, opening a door near where the guards laid.
"Wait here, don't move." Valerie said, turning to the door, "I'm going to find us a way out."
"Wait." Eleven said, grabbing Valerie and Henry's hands, "How did you-"
"Like I said, we're alike, you, Valerie and I." He rolled his sleeve up.
Valerie rolled her up, the room fell dead silent as Eleven raised her sleeve, comparing the numbers. Henry gave Eleven a smile, then turned to the door and opened it. Stepping into the hallway, Valerie and Henry walked down the hall.
"Do you think she'll wait?" Valerie questioned, pausing mid-step.
"Maybe she will. Maybe she won't. I'm not going to let anything bad happen to you, Val. I can't. I'm in love with you. And no it's not the spell you put on me. It's coming from my heart." Valerie felt his heartbeat speed it as he spoke.
"A long time ago, I was once loved. By my parents, I haven't felt that love for a while."
"It's been a long time since I used my powers, let's see what I can do." Henry spoke as a set of guards rushed into the hall.
