I awoke the following morning with an intense desire to see Joel. I knew he would be on the top deck that morning but I was required to attend Lunch with the captain and designer of the Titanic. The idea of meeting them rather bored me so I decided to ask James for a favour.

"Darling? May I ask you a question?"As we were about to leave our room, I questioned him. He had intended to sunbathe and swim in the pool first.

"Depends. Don't be asking for some stupid womanly thing because you know you can always turn to the maids for that." He said rather rudely while unlocking the door and stepping outside. He extended his arm for me to take and I did.

"Well, it's not that. I was wondering if I could see Joel and introduce him to my father. He doesn't know of his heroic act and I think it would be best to introduce him before the dinner tonight." I said less confidently as I had hoped. It took a while for James to make his mind up but he reluctantly consented.

"I suppose it would be alright. Plus, I have some catching up I need to do with the captain. We have planned to go to the gymnasium today."

That was the end of that. James and I departed out separate ways to meet our company. I climbed a few flights of stairs and was greeted by the hustle and bustle out on the top deck. It was packed with crowds of lower class people who wanted to get a good view of the ocean. It was the perfect time of day to be here since the sun was high in the sky and you could see nothing but the sky and the ocean ahead of you.

I had dressed rather casually today to potentially fit in with the third class people on board but I still received a few glances and head turns as I walked to the front deck of the boat. I rested my delicate hands onto the railing of the edge of the boat and stared deep into the ocean below. It was much deeper now and the vibrant blue colour expanded out further than the eye could see. I took a deep breath in and just appreciated this spectacular view. Even as a rich girl, I had never experienced anything like this before. It was magnificent.

Unexpectedly, a warm hand rested on my shoulder at it was followed by a voice. I jumped a little and I quickly darted around and was met by a pair of glowing crystals in front of me that were rested on the face of an angel, a hero, Joel.

"Sorry, I must've scared you. You jumped half a mile." He said, whilst talking, his hand and scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

"You really gave me a fright." I replied, an uncontrollable smile spread out across my face. His energy was just so compelling and made me want to smile.

"It's a little weird to see you up here alone. Aren't you normally with your fancy pants boyfriend?"

"Fiancé. He is going to the gymnasium with the designer of the Titanic." I corrected him. Although, it felt a little wrong to speak about James when he wasn't here so I tried to steer away from that topic.

"Is that so? I told you he was a fancy pants." Joel replied with a smirk.

"Irrelevant. I was just wondering, Mr Davis-"

"Joel."

"Joel, you mentioned your family in America? Can you tell me what they were like?"

Joel paused for a while and reached inside his pocket for something, seconds later he retrieved two cigarettes.

"Want one?" He asked but I shook my head. James always discouraged smoking as it was a 'manly' thing in his eyes. I thought it was bad manners so it was instinct to refuse but I could've done with a smoke.

"Suit yourself." He said while lighting it with his lighter. The flame dancing in the salty wind right as it clung to the butt of the cigarette. He inhaled the smoke and exhaled it out right in front of him. The wild wind took it with it almost immediately.
