14th April 1912
5:30am
It was the next morning and I had barely slept. The humidity from our hot bloodedness and the blaze of the spring morning had created an overwhelming warmth throughout our bedroom. I laid between my sheets, feeling alone as ever. I longed to see Joel and I knew he longed to see me too. But I couldn't leave as I had promised James that I wouldn't. But that is the funny thing about love. You simply cannot help yourself.I hesitantly rose from my bed and pulled the covers just up to James' chin. He was sound asleep. I decided to write a note with my calligraphy pen.
I have gone to check up on my father, I will see you at breakfast -Your one love, Isobel
That seemed to be good enough so I left the piece of paper upright on the nightstand and quickly changed into a green velvety dress, neglecting my figure and not caring about the corset I was constantly forced to wear. I didn't think it mattered to Joel if I wasn't wearing my finest clothes but I wanted to wear something expensive nonetheless.
A waft of cool breeze almost immediately refreshed me as soon as I climbed onto the top deck. The sun had not yet risen meaning there was a cool presence that lingered in the air. My eyes scanned the top deck and it was almost completely barren. My heart sunk in my chest and I realised that Joel was probably still asleep. My heart pounded furiously in a panic as I thought I would never get another opportunity to speak to Joel but the scent of cigarette smoke filled my nostrils.
I knew it was him. Following the trail of cigarette smoke, I blindly made my way to the front of magnificent titanic and sure enough, there he was.
He had his back turned as he leant against the railing. His dark, soft hair blew effortlessly in the wind. I stared at him for a good while, just taking in his presence and tranquility. I approached him and softly said.
"Hello, Joel. Lucky to see you up here."
He swivelled his head around and an affectionate smile spread out across his lips, a flicker of happiness danced in his icy eyes. He was happy to see me.
