Tainted Black Summary:

No one knew how, when, or why it happened...

But the moment it did, it was over.

Hope was lost.

The silver somehow rusted, broke.

He had been tainted black-

By them.

***********************

Red slowly crept towards him on the concrete ground. Blank, empty blue eyes stared down at it, all emotions and light gone a long time ago.

The 7-year-old looking boy gave absolutely no reaction, his bangs only shadowing his face. His head slowly rose to see the body slump down to the ground in a plat, making the red liquid spread more out.

"Well done, son," came a deep voice from behind him, but he only stared down at the corpse with a blank look. "As I expected of you." Steps echoed in the dark, underground concrete room. A large, firm hand landed on his shoulder, yet no reaction came from the boy. "He chose well, taking you in as his son."

Slowly raising his head up, the lenses of his glasses shined to the only light stretching into the room. The thin stripe of moonlight shone over the boy, just shining enough to reveal his dark brown hair and slightly tanned skin.

He raised his hand, the gun he held coming into display. Without even a glance, he cocked the gun to the side, firing into the shadows of the room.

A blood-curdling scream of pain from a man came right after the split, but deafening sound.

The man behind gave a hoarse laugh, only giving a side glance in the direction. "Spies and traitors are not allowed."

Before the person could answer, another loud bang came, making it turn silent.

****************

Furuya Rei, also known as Amuro Tooru, or at this place, Bourbon, leaned into the wall with crossed arms and closed eyes. The screams of the room next to him went to a stop, but he stayed still. He stood deep in his thoughts, giving no reaction to the outside world, even when faint footsteps approached him.

"What did you do?" came a stern female voice.

The sound of a gun loading echoed down the empty, dark hallway, but the blond still gave no reaction. "I did nothing."

"Then why is he here?" she asked, her gun pointing right at his head. Her lips were in a firm line, her eyes glaring with something more than fury. "You were the one with him. You brought Silver Bullet here."

One eye opened, the blank eye staring at her. Not batting an eye at the gun threatening his life. "You fully know yourself, Vermouth."

Clicking her tongue, she closed her eyes and gripped the gun tightly in frustration. "You could have avoided it. Many things could have been done to avoid it. Yet you didn't even try."

"It was a lost cost the moment it came."

The arm dropped to her side, and she took a sharp turn to leave. Her slightly hasteful steps echoed down the hallway again, only getting a slight pause when the comment washed down.

"It's a loss. Don't even bother."

The footsteps soon vanished into the darkness, but Bourbon could hear a distinct echo in his head.

"I will make them pay, even if it costs my life."

He shook his head in disbelief. He knew it was over the moment everything turned. There was nothing anyone could do anymore against them to win now. He heard of him, and he wanted him.
