Summary:

Conan really didn't know what to think or make of this. Of those other two.

He could go along with it to make things easier for everyone around him and those involved.

Or will his envy of one of them want him to find a way to revert it all back to how it was before?

**********

Conan leaned into the railing on the top of the roof of the building he was at. The moon shone beautifully above him, but his eyes stared down at the lights from the police and the crowd below. A KID heist was occurring at the moment, but right now, Conan was not really up for being among so many people.

A tired sigh left him, and he tilted his head back to stare up at the night sky. Fatigue was starting to become too much inside of him. He'd been Conan for so long now, and there was still no sign of Shinichi returning anytime soon.

The heavy door leading up to the roof opened, but he never turned towards it. He only continued to stare up at the stars blinking above everything.

"Meitantei, what seems to be the matter?" came a concerned voice from behind, and a figure in white stepped into his sight to the side.

"How often do you wish to just drop your other side to just live a normal life?" was Conan's response. A small scoff suddenly left him, and he lowered his head to stare off into the horizon between all the buildings of Tokyo. "At least you have the ability to live under your normal civil name..."

No answer came from the other, and Conan stepped back from the railings to turn. KID had his back to him, holding the large gem in his hand up towards the moon. The gem in his hold was a colourless petalite gemstone, but even being colourless, it gave out a beautiful light over KID as the moonlight shone through it.

"Even if I really wanted to, even if I could just throw away Kaitou KID and live normally again, I won't," answered KID, tossing the gem up before catching it again as he lowered his arm. "I have a mission to fulfill, an important goal to hinder further harm from those people." Fidgeting with the gem in his hand, he turned to lean his back into the railings, head tilted back as he stared up at the sky himself. "It must be hard for you, Meitantei. Forced to create a new name to live as," he muttered, then stared down at the gem again. "But we both live with different sides that we can't remove quite yet."

Conan shook his head at him, but came to give out a small scoff as he glared up at the thief. "You technically gave me a third from when you kidnapped me to Singapore," he stated, crossing his arms. KID blinked once as he slowly lowered his glance at him, but an amused chuckle left him.

"It worked out, didn't it?" grinned KID down at him, and Conan scoffed again, but smiled as he shook his head. "You know," suddenly said KID, holding the gem out between them. "This gem is known as the Alias Gem. Quite fitting for our theme for tonight, isn't it?"

The chibi detective raised an eyebrow as he studied the gem in the thief's hold. "Why is it called that, exactly?" he asked. "It's just a colourless petalite. What about it has anything with aliases to do?"

A small hum left KID, but he gave out a small smile as he tossed it in his hand. "Maybe it isn't quite as it seems," suggested KID, swirling the gem in his hold. "Like us." Conan gave the thief an unamused stare, and KID chuckled, but shook his head. "But I believe it's time to call this night to an end," he said, retracting his arm and standing up straight. "Nakamori-keibu will be up shortly, and your friends must be waiting downstairs for you."

"I guess," sighed Conan, but gave a small nod. He glanced down at his watch to find it having just turned mid-night, then looked up again. He held out his hand, and KID tossed him the gem.
