I've come to really love this AU.

But like every other story in this collection, I got no idea of how far I'll be able to make it.

***************

Conan gave out a tired sigh as he sat alone in the living room. Five days had now passed since he had turned, and since it was still school, Kaito had to leave to attend classes. Agasa had enrolled him for Teitan Elementary School, but that wouldn't start until next week for him.

During the five days he had been there in Ekoda with Kaito, they had made sure that all information and facts they had made up were properly engraved between them. They wanted nothing to go misunderstood, which could greatly affect them later on.

Kaito had also loved those days, since he got to give private magic lessons for Conan to properly perform and not just deduce. But the detective's ability to solve the tricks made it much easier for him to actually do them, so that was at least a plus.

Conan sat on the couch, fidgeting with the red bowtie Agasa had given him some days ago, when they had gone back to Beika for a brief visit. The inventor hadn't been able to complete most of the gadgets, but he had quickly finished the bowtie, as he thought it would become the most handy one since Conan couldn't imitate voices like Kaito as he was now.

And the voice-changing bowtie actually came to great use as Ran had asked him for help with cases her father had picked up, but couldn't figure out himself.

Groaning in boredom, Conan jumped down from the couch, pocketed his bowtie, then went to find his football. Dribbling the ball helped him think properly and sort out thoughts when things were jumbled up for him. But playing with the ball only helped skip the time so so much.

So he went to challenge himself a bit more. While dribbling the ball between his feet and head, he attempted to perform some magic tricks with his hand at the same time.

He was great when it came to multi-tasking, but he was still kind of new to magic tricks. But with his great control with football, it was worth a try.

With the flick of his wrist, he summoned a rose as he kicked the ball back and forth. Flicking his wrist again, the rose was switched with a deck of cards. He shuffled the cards, then grabbed the top five, while the ball bounced repeatedly on his head. With the snap of his fingers, the rest of the deck vanished in a tiny smoke cloud, and he held out the five he held. Returning to kicking the ball back and forth, he threw up the five cards, and they exploded into smoke, five different coloured flower heads descending from them.

The five flowers laid on the floor, and Conan gave a calculated kick to the ball, making it fall right on top of one of them. The moment the ball landed on the flower, it exploded, sending the ball back to him for him to continue dribbling with, and the flower was replaced with a playing card again. He repeated that with the other flower, but at the fifth one, the flower would make a bigger explosion and send the ball flying off with more force.

Conan yelped and dove to the side to avoid the flying football. Then he heard the ball bounce around, but turned to see that nothing was damaged. He sighed in relief, then turned to look at what had gone wrong.

Dust from the explosion laid on the floor around a rose with a long stem. Giving out a sigh, Conan got up and walked over to pick it up. While holding it, the same smoke appeared, and it returned back into a playing card. He walked over to pick up the other four cards, then knelt down to inspect the dust from the failed explosion.

Inspecting it, he gave out an annoyed groan and glared out the window. "Bakaito..." he muttered, then shook his head. "Mixing up his smoke bombs again," he huffed, but went to clean the dust before walking up the stairs to Kaito's room.
