Summary:
Whichever way one takes for a task can still make it lead to the same result.
And their mission was to take them down.
But one can only take so much, so one's way can change before their mission is reached.
KID had been a thief for far longer than others thought, but those who thought they knew him were fools. The only reason they knew him as this was because of that night when he met him.
But KID has deemed it time to finally stop the wasting of time he was making with this belief of never hurting. He was experienced, so he thought it was about time to talk to his favourite person now.

Kaitou KID wasn't what people thought he was. Sure, he was a thief targeting gems, but he wasn't actually the friendly one they saw him as. Everyone who worked under him kept questioning why he suddenly changed his ways, asking if he was quitting and going good.
No.
He made sure those under him knew, and he was not afraid of showing the real him.
He was still the same. Under the white he wore amongst them was a pure darkness that covered everything light the moment he was out of their sight. His sight.
That night, when he had met the small detective, he had grown interested. The challenge the boy had come to give him gave him a feeling he had lost long ago.
But he knew the boy was on the other side of the law. And he made sure to search him well. No one ever dared to question his sources, those who dared were long gone.
And after that night, after he had learned about the boy, he adapted. He changed his ways to keep seeing the boy; the small detective. Knowing he was on the other side of the law, he made some adjustments to make sure they would keep meeting. Even if he had to constantly go through annoyances, he deemed it worthy to have the other's company during those times.
Edogawa Conan, or Kudo Shinichi, had caught his interest. He felt a connection between them, a hidden one, which the other didn't even know of. But he did.
They were similar. They had similar goals. Just on different sides.
During the times they met, KID had studied him, observed him thoroughly. He knew having him around was for the better of him.
And he wanted to keep it that way.
He had gained the boy's trust through every challenge, creating a bond between them.
KID didn't want to ruin that bond between them. But it went from one side to the other.
He rather have it be one just one.
And he sure would do everything he could to do just that.

The herd of KID fans screamed as the crowd filled the parking lot belonging to the skyscraper in front. Police stood all around, keeping them in check, while also having every spot of the building in sight.
Annoyed indigo eyes glared down at those below him. He never cared about them. He only kept this up because of his interesting target.
His pure white cape blew to the winds as he stood on the top of the building whilst waiting. The gem laid inside his pocket, already checked, and yet another waste of time.
The door to the roof slammed open, and KID gave out a grin. His time didn't seem to be a waste after all. "My, my, Tantei-kun~," purred KID as he turned around to face the small detective slowly stepping out onto the roof. "I'm sure you're happy to meet me up here, but why so rough?"
