Jordan- 16
It was a late afternoon and Jordan was leaving a therapy session and Jay was gonna pick her up. Hank was doing an undercover op that was risky and for safety reasons he wanted someone with his daughter as a just in case.
The detective pulled up as Jordan was on her phone, she opened the door and hopped in.
"What's up bro" Jordan says happily.
"What's got you in a good mood?" Jay replied with a smile.
"It's Friday, no homework, I finished my weekly therapy. I can finally enjoy the weekend"
"How much longer till summer break?'
"A month. One long ass month"
"First, language. Second, any plans? Whatcha wanna do?"
"Don't know yet. I know lots of therapy for one. But other than that very long and hot summer days"
"What about a summer job? I'm sure your dad wouldn't mind if you worked with Will at the hospital or something small"
"I'm not very big on hospitals still, I don't mind visiting but being in one the same one when my brother died. I don't know if I'd be able to do it"
Jay had somewhat understood her pain, he didn't know how his brother managed to consistently work in a hospital around and see people at the very worst and to see families in pain. He didn't know how he could still continue to work where their father had died not very long ago.
The teen looked at him. "Can we get some food by chance? I'm starving"
"Being I'm on babysitting duty I think I can manage that"
"You're not babysitting and I'm not a baby. You're young adult watching"
The detective chuckled. "Young adult watching?"
"Of course Detective Chuckles. I'm a young adult and you're simply watching me"
"If you say so kid. What do you want for dinner?"
"I've been craving Chinese. Let's do Chinese. Oh movie night! We haven't done that in forever"
"What's the movie?"
"Batman"
"You don't like Superman?"
"He's alright. Superman looks big and bad but you get Kypronite near him and he's the biggest wuss ever. Now Bruce Wayne, he can kick ass a million different ways with different weapons nothing wrong with a good ol' ass kicking"
"Do you think I'd be more Batman or Superman?
A grin appeared on her face. "I'd say more...Robin"
"Robin?! Do I look like a side kick to you?"
"Actually you do" She chuckled.
"I am not Robin. I'm Batman"
Jordan chuckled. "Whatever you say Jay"
There was something about the young Voight that brought out everyone's inner child she often had the tough act out trying to be an adult but she was still a child. Especially a child at heart.
Soon Jay had arrived at one of their favorite Chinese take outs, they got out and Jay made sure to keep his boss's daughter close. They all hear Hank's voice in their heads when they watch Jordan. If anything happens to her you will see a side of me you won't like.
As night began to fall the freaks had began coming out, one of them saw Jordan and whistled. "Wanna hang out with me tonight sweet thang?"
Jordan rolled her eyes, if only everyone knew who her father was. "Piss off you perverted old freak"
"I like em' feisty"
"I think she said piss off, now do what she said" Jay told the guy sharply.
The guy saw Jay briefly show his badge and the intense look in his eyes andmocked saluting him. "Yes sir officer"
The two continued inside the restaurant and Jordan kept glancing out. "God I hate when guys pull that on me"
"What do you think would happen if a guy asked your dad to take you out?"
She couldn't help but laugh. "Dude you work for my dad. The guy should definitely save himself the trouble. My dad would put the absolute fear of God into someone we both know that to be a fact. I remember he put Derek through the ringer and then he never remembered his name"
"Oh please he knew his name, he was goofing with ya"
"Jay, he had Mouse do a background check on him. He knows the type of juice Derek drank. My dad can and will find out everything on someone by any means necessary. You'll do the same thing one day"
"You think so?"
"I know so"
After getting their food the duo left and went back to Jay's truck. The guy whistled at Jordan again and threw a beer bottle at her. Jordan was 16 but looked a little older for her age. The teen rolled her eyes and put all the food in the car as Jay took his badge and gun off. He gave his badge to Jordan but put the gun in his back waist band.
Jordan leaned against the truck door with a very amused look on her face. Jay went to the guy. "Come here man"
"Do I look like an idiot? You're gonna get me for assault on a cop"
"You see a badge on me? Jo you see a badge on me?"
"I don't see anything" She says, with an amused smile.
The guy threw a right hook at Jay and the detective grabbed his fist then twisted his arm back tightly behind his back. "Never again mess with my little sister or next time, I'll snap your arm. You got me?"
"Yes! Yes! Just get off me!"
Jay had eventually let him go and went back to Jordan as she started laughing. "My hero. I'm driving now Robin"
"There's no way in hell I'm letting you drive my pride and joy. You can sit your happy little self in the passenger seat. Batgirl"
"Whatever you say, Robin"
