Jordan-15
*Follow up from the previous chapter*
Denny was getting desperate by this point, he needed that recording before Jordan ruined his life and career. That is if she hasn't already. One day while Hank was at work and Jordan was at school, Denny searched for the recording in Hank's house starting in the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen. It wasn't anywhere on the lower level of the house. He then moved to Jordan's room and started searching, tearing into everything. But it wasn't anywhere in sight. He had torn her room apart and nothing.
As he searched for it he heard a dry chuckle then a voice. "Well, I don't know about you Denny, but correct me if I'm right or wrong but breaking and entering is also considered breaking the law" Jordan spoke at her door. "You honestly think I'd be stupid enough to leave that recording in my house, my room of all places? You're stupid for sure. To bad there's no cure for stupid"
Denny glared at her. "Where is it Jordan?"
"I told you, that's for me to know and you to never find out. You'll never find it because I hid where you'll never find it" She gave him a smirk.
"Look here you little witch, I want that recording and I want it now"
"Or what? You can't go to my dad without outing yourself on what you did, hell you can't go to anyone without outing any of what you did because if they ask what's on the recording you have to tell the truth. So go ahead go tell whoever you want about the recording you'll be outing yourself"
Denny then stormed past her and went to the one room she kept closed. Nobody besides her and her father was allowed in it. Justin's room. He went to the door just as he reached for the knob he had fallen to the ground as Jordan kicked him behind the knee hard making him lose his balance.
"You go in that room and I'll break both your hands along with all your fingers," Jordan said dangerously. "Nobody except me and my dad goes into my brother's room. The recording isn't in my house"
"I will find that recording Jordan you mark my words," Denny told her hissing in pain as he managed to get to his feet.
"I'm so scared. Not. I told you I'm not that naive kid you used to pick on, I fight back now"
"Game on, Jordan"
"Game on you slimy bastard"
Denny stormed out of the house trying to think of his next move and think of where Jordan would hide the recording. She had already confirmed it wasn't at her house. Where else would she have put it?
Denny had to think like Jordan and where she would go and the places he considered came to mind. The first was the district in her father's squad, which would be a huge risk to go through, especially with the others almost always there. Hank especially. There would be no way for him to search the squad unless they were all gone on a case.
The second was Firehouse 51, he knew Jordan often stayed there when her father worked late but like with the district it's always busy with people around except when they were on a call and it made for an even more challenge because where in a firehouse would Jordan put the recording? It was too big and he would get busted.
The last place he thought Jordan could hide it was Chicago Med. The most challenging place of all. A hospital of all places multiple floors with people all over the place. It didn't help that Jay's brother Will worked there and often watched after her for Hank.
Jordan was more and more like her father than he realized. Three places she could pick to hide the recording all with people consistently around and no way for him to check and if he tried he'd get caught by someone.
"You're an evil genius, Jordan. I will find where you put it" He muttered to himself.
The following day, Denny went to Jordan's school and thought she could have put it in her school locker. He went to her locker and started to open it, he put on a stethoscope and started messing with the combination till the metal locker finally opened.
On the side of the locker were a few pictures of Jordan and her brother, her and her father, and the team, on the shelf there were a couple of books and her jacket hanging on the hook. There was a note taped to the edge of the shelf Denny snatched it off reading it.
-Nice try genius. Guess again.
He then crumpled up the note and slammed the locker shut just as he heard the familiar laugh he knew anywhere.
"You thought I'd be stupid enough to leave it in my school locker? That's rich" Jordan chuckled at him. "So you checked my house, my locker, tell me where else do you have planned to look because I told you, you'll never find it"
Denny just glared at her as he stormed away. After the school day was over Jordan made her way to the district as she normally did, she saw Trudy on the phone but she knew her godmother would buzz her up. Jordan opened the door to the squad and headed up.
Once she got up there she saw the squad empty which meant they were out in the field working a case. Jordan went to her father's office and pulled out her homework and a flash drive. She installed the flash drive to her father's computer uploading the recording and hid it under a file her father wouldn't notice.
A grin appeared on her face once she saw the recording was uploaded, she made a secret file and hid it in his computer. As a backup, she sent the recording to an email and had an email ready to send to IAB if Denny had decided to force her hand.
Just as she heard footsteps she took the flash drive out and quickly hid it, she put it in one of her father's drawers and locked it then cleared his computer screen and opened her books looking as if she started her homework. Hank saw his daughter at his desk working, he smiled and went over to her.
"Hey sweetheart, you good?" Hank asked.
Jordan looked up and smiled at her father. "All good Dad, doing some studying. Got a big test tomorrow"
"Make sure you get all that homework done and you study"
"Always Dad. Be careful out there"
"Always sweetheart"
Jordan got up and hugged her father as Hank wrapped her in his arms and kissed her head. He then pulled away and left her alone to do her work as he left to go work on his case. She took the seat back in his chair and pulled out the small flash drive twirling it through her fingers.
"Game on you slimy bastard"
