Jordan-15
Kevin opened the door. "Sarge we got something you wanna see"
Hank went over and got the folder from his officer and opened it reading it. "Well looks like we got more to talk about Roberts. Seems like police responded to your residence quite a few times in the past year they responded at least half a dozen times. All for domestic violence. Explain that"
"It was nothing. My wife and I had a few drunk arguments. You never had an argument with your wife?"
"I never hit my wife. On the last call police responded your wife opened the door with a black eye she then told responding officers she ran into a door"
"She probably did, my wife has a drinking problem"
"That's what they're calling it now. Drinking problems. I got other reports from last year, hospital reports from Chicago Med. Your wife was admitted for a broken arm, her left eye was heavily bruised damn near swollen shut, multiple rib fractures, scar on her right temple that went down to the middle of her cheek-" Hank was cut off by the other man.
"Enough Sergeant"
"Why? I'm just getting started. We have reports going back to an old residence of yours same deal, arguing, your then wife had a black eye, sprained wrist, broken cheek bone-" He was cut off again.
"I said enough!"
"I don't listen to you see you're in my house. You listen to me. You're just a batterer with a temper. Does beating on women make you feel like a real man? It doesn't, you beat on people to make yourself feel powerful, well guess what it ends today. I got my people talking to your wife and your ex wife both of which are pressing charges on you so I think your running for Mayor comes to an end now. I'll make sure you, your stepson, neither of you will ever hurt anyone again. It's time you both find out actions have consequences and for you, I'll make damn sure the DA throws the book at you. Enjoy the freedom while you can because it will be over in the blink of an eye"
Without a word Hank left the room slamming the door behind him. Down in the cell area Jordan stood there, her arms folded across her chest. Michael looked up at his ex-girlfriend.
"Hi Michael," She simply said.
"What are you doing here? Haven't you ruined my life enough?" Michael snapped.
"I didn't ruin your life nor did the other girls ruin you, you ruined your own life when you abused me and all the girls before me. You knew sooner or later you would have gotten caught and this would have come to light. And don't act so innocent because you weren't when you were beating me down, hitting and kicking me, when you cut me with a beer bottle. You were my first boyfriend, Michael, I thought that I could help you change and break free from that but I realized I couldn't. You need to fix yourself on your own. I don't know why but part of me still actually loves you and I have no idea why. I just wanna know why you did it. Why you abused me and all those girls"
"I don't have a reason, I just did. Why do people do anything they do?"
"You'll never change. You have a chance to stop the cycle and you won't. You always said I was gonna be your bitch Michael, you're wrong. I ain't nobody's bitch but mark my words when you get to jail, you'll be somebody's bitch. Have fun where you're going because this time daddy won't be around to help you"
Jordan had walked out going back upstairs to the squad, she had felt so much better getting this weight lifted off her shoulders and her chest. For so long she had wanted to tell someone, anyone, but she still had some fear of telling. Not of Michael, but the thought of losing her father if he went off the hinges and did something crazy.
She was so zoned out in her thoughts she hadn't realized she had bumped into Kim.
"Oh I'm sorry Kim, I should have been paying attention" Jordan says.
"Honey, it's fine. Your dad was looking for you, how are you?" Kim replied.
"Like this weight was lifted off me and I feel better, like I can breathe again. I just don't get why people do the things they do"
"That'll drive you crazy, it drives us crazy on the people we arrest. We'll never understand why people do what they do"
"Is it bad that part of me still loves him?"
"It's completely normal to have some kind of love for your first love. We all do. But eventually we'll find that one person that will truly love, cherish, and care about us. You're still young sweetheart, you'll have boys in and out, lining up for you"
"If they can get by my dad they can try" She chuckled. "I get what you mean"
"And always know you can come to me or us"
"I will, thank you Kim"
"Anytime kiddo"
The female officer brought the teen back to her father. When the two got back to the squad Jordan saw her father and ran to him hugging him. Hank wrapped his daughter in a tight hug.
"You alright sweetheart?" Hank asked her.
"I am now. As long as we have each other, I'll always be good"
