Nonny hadn't laughed so hard in quite a while. She covered her mouth as she tried to swallow while laughing at Theous' silly behaviour. She had her legs folded on the couch while Theous sat in his recliner, as comfortable as ever. He was being so goofy and childish and it was refreshing to Nonny. Right now he was regaling her with stories about his childhood.

"...and I kid you not," he was saying, a bottle of Heineken (beer) in his hand. "He looked me dead in the eye and told me that I was an accidental baby who came out of the butt! Bruh, all because I ate the last piece of meat! My childhood friend was crazy and you wouldn't believe me if I told you that he's a famous basketball player now."

Nonny grinned. "Who is it?"

"For the sake of not getting sued, let me keep my mouth shut."

"So you're lying?"

Theous chuckled. "No. And speaking of lying, you know, I lied about knowing you the other day. It was my first time seeing you."

Nonny laughed and slapped his shoulder. "I knew it. I'm very good with remembering faces and yours...I was blank when it came to you." She tilted her head curiously. "I thought you were the most handsome man I had seen in a while."

That threw Theous off a bit as he stared in surprise at her. She thought he was the...note the keyword: most handsome man she had seen in a while! His throat went dry and he felt idiotic for a while, just staring at Nonny.

She smiled. "Very handsome indeed." Then the smile was gone. "Too bad you are taken."

"I'm not taken," he rushed to say.

She stiffly nodded, her expression making it apparent that she didn't believe him. "Hmm..." She sat up properly and put her shoes on. "I think I should go home..."

Theous carefully placed his beer on a coaster on the coffee table. Just by looking at Nonny, he knew that she knew something. "Dr. Nonny-"

She reluctantly looked up at him, her brown eyes searching his. "Look, you don't have to lie to me. I know about Zara."

"Oh. Um...Zara and I...it was nothing serious. And anyway, she has gone back to France. What about you and Dr. Derek Asher? If you broke up, why are you still using his surname?"

"Can we not talk about this now? Please?"

He nodded. "So...what's your favorite colour?"

Nonny burst out laughing. "Bruh!"

"Mine's black. Kinda goes with everything."

"Mine's black too. In fact, apparently I love it so much that I did something really embarrassing. My excuse is that I was drunk." She stood up and turned her back to him, lifting her shirt up to her shoulders.

Theous' eyes travelled from her waist with its slight love handles and up her slightly freckled back until it landed on a tattoo between her shoulder blades. He stood up and walked over, trying to see the tattoo better.

His jaw dropped. "Oh. My. Goodness!" he exclaimed, trying to cover up the laughter that bubbled from his stomach. "You didn't! You're a freaking MD! What will your patients say? When did you even get this tattoo?"

Nonny turned to him. "I was drunk and Derek had just broken my heart. I really didn't think twice when I walked into that tattoo parlor. Mind you, I see the guy that did my tattoo almost every week and he's always laughing when he sees me."

"You have a miniature tattoo of a black penis on your back captioned, 'I love black'...What were you thinking?" Theous laughed.

"I was married to a caucasian man. This...back when I was drunk...seemed like a good idea to get back at him. I've never worn anything that reveals my back since then." Nonny grinned. "I want to get it covered but I'm afraid of the needles."

"A doctor afraid of needles? Isn't nature being a little sarcastic?"

"I don't care when I'm sticking them in people. When they are being stuck in me...it's a different story."

A smirk made its way to Theous' face. "My mind strayed once you said you love sticking things in people."

Nonny face palmed. "Pervert," she playfully said. "Um...anyway, I have to get to my house." She looked at him. "I had a good time with you. Thanks. I really needed this."

"I love giving others pleasure." Theous winked. Inside, he was mentally screaming at himself, wondering why the hell he was acting like a teenager that was attempting to charm the panties off of a girl. Not that he would mind charming the panties off Nonny Asher.

Nonny gave him an amused smile as she put on her jacket and walked towards the door, keeping quiet. Deep down, she wanted so badly to entertain Theous' antics but she held back because she didn't know him that well yet even though his suggestiveness was kind of a turn on for her.

Compose yourself, she thought to herself.

Theous followed her out to her car. He opened the door for her but she turned to him instead of getting in.

"Theous..." He was so close he could feel her breath against his chin. She looked up at him, suddenly a little shy as she played with her fingers. "I had a really great time."

"I had a great time too," he glanced at her lips for a second, wondering if this was the moment to go for it. He was tempted by the brown lips but he decided not to do it just in case he was rushing it.

Nonny bit the corner of her lip. "I...I was wondering if next time I could perhaps cook for you at my house?"

What the hell?! she thought. She was nothing short of a disaster in the kitchen ever since Derek left. It was like he had taken her cooking skills with him. But she promised herself that she would dedicate some of her time to practising in the kitchen should Theous agree to come. She would practice until her hand fell off.

"Yeah. I would love that very much," he sincerely said.

"When will you be free then?"

"Anytime you are free. I'm usually done with gym or practice around 7pm everyday."

"Will this coming weekend be alright?"

"It will be perfect."

Nonny smiled, relief showing on her face. "See you then."

She got into her car and then bid him goodnight before driving off.

She  screamed in happiness as she drove, excited beyond anything for her very first date with someone new in 8 years! She was really determined to get over Derek and step one was actually having the courage to get to know someone else, someone new!

Theous was a step in the right direction.
