Ashton:

"Hello?" You answer your phone as you step off the elevator on the floor of your apartment.

"Hey Y/N, you almost home?" You purse your lips together and furrow your eyebrows as you begin to dig through your purse to find your house keys.

"Um yeah Luke, what's up?" You ask him, curious as to why he was calling you. "I'm actually right outside." As soon as you finish the word outside, your apartment door flies open. You jump back, startled and hang up with Luke, seeing as he's standing before you. "What are you doing here?" He bites his lip and steps out of the way so you can enter the apartment.

"It's Ashton." Your eyes go wide and your heart begins to beat rapidly in your chest.

"Is he okay? What's wrong? Did something bad happen? He's not injured is he?" Luke shakes his head and motions towards your shared bedroom, where the door is closed firmly.

"We kind of got swarmed by some people earlier today. They were saying some pretty nasty things to him, clearly not fans." You drop your purse on the ground and run your hand through your hair.

"What kind of things?" Luke sighs and shakes his head.

"Stuff I won't repeat." You nod your head and sigh.

"I got it from here Lukey." You assure him.

You walk to the closed door and knock lightly before pushing the door open. You're greeted with a dark room and Ashton sitting by the window. It's sunset so the light in the room is minimal. Ashton doesn't look over at you as you enter and shut the door behind you. He's intently staring down at his wrists, large balls of tears are streaming down his cheeks and he's hiccuping for breath. "Babe," He looks in your direction before breaking down into a harder sob. You run over to him and drop down to your knees beside him.

"They just wouldn't stop." He cries out, you pulling him into an embrace. You rub his back and fight back the urge to cry as well. You'd never seen a single tear leave Ashton and now it was like a pool of water was leaving his beautiful eyes. "I tried to block it out."

"Baby, shhh. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."

Calum:

"That's so horrible." You mutter, staring at the TV screen with your hand over your heart. There was a news story on that revolved around what appeared to be a happy couple on the outside. The wife had a fatal brain tumor that was making her life hell. She decided to end her life a couple days after her husband's birthday. It wasn't necessarily suicide, it was a medical decision.

"Yeah, I'll be right back." Calum says to you before patting your knee and getting up from the couch. He walks towards his bedroom and goes in, closing the door behind him. You wipe the traces of the tears away with your thumb and turn the TV off, not wanting to watch anymore depressing stories.

From his bedroom you hear a soft cry and then it fades out. You stand from the couch and walk slowly over to the bedroom door. You don't bother knocking on the door before opening the door to witness your best friend sitting on the end of his bed, his head in his hands.

"Calum?" You question, your voice soft. He doesn't turn and look at you, just cries quietly. You walk over to him and sit beside him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. He turns to you and buries his face against your neck, continuing to cry. You take your other hand and smooth his hair out. "What's wrong?" You ask him. It takes him a few moments to stop his tears and sit up. He places one hand on your cheek, his thumb caressing your skin, and stares you deep in the eyes.
