When we got to the school I had a lot of explaining to do. Maka's father was so glad to to see her but when it became evident that she didn't remember him he became very sad and reserved. Maka had apologized, feeling guilty and he had told her not to fret, she would get her memories back soon. I think that's a reality we all are hoping for.
"I suggest she gets a lot of rest," lord death says. "I never should have put you on that mission, you weren't ready and you all were still recovering, I had no idea that this is what we would be up against. this is my fault and I'm sorry."
"It's ok lord death, I'm glad you sent us. If you had let some of the newer students take the job, things could have turned out a lot worse. The thing I'm worried about right now is what Arachne is planning. She's obviously directing attacks towards death city. I tried asking Alec but he just told me that Arachne never shared her plans and just told them what to do and they were expected to follow."
"Yes, well we can talk about this another time. You all deserve a rest. But about this Alec character, are you positive we can trust him?"
"I have a good feeling from him but I've let it be known that I wouldn't hesitate killing him if I suspected anything of foul play."
Lord death nodded. "I trust you, but even so he is to be confined strictly within the schools' walls. We shall give him a fine living space with the essentials he needs but if he requires activities needed to be done outside the school, others will have to do that for him. He will work with the janitorial services and we will see how it goes from there."
"That sounds perfect."
At that moment stein stepped forward and handed us all brown bags. "Your medicine." he explained. "instructions are on the bottle, I suggest you take them, they'll help with everything." we nodded and turned to leave. "soul? come here for a moment?" I nodded.
"Just wait for me outside, I'll be there in a moment to take you home." I told her.
She nodded and walked out with the others.
"I advise you to take it slow with Maka, It is possible for her to regain her memories but it needs to be a little bit at a time. She's been through a lot of traumatizing stuff and if she remembers all of it at once it would be very agonizing for her and may even kill her from fear or grief. Certain things could respark memories like certain objects, so maybe take her around town and see if you can't get her to remember a few things. The faster we get her memories back the better all of us will be. We need to know all that happened in Arachna's palace. We need to start setting up heavy defenses around death city, because either way theres going to be a fight."Stein said.
I nodded. "I can handle that." I said. Then turned to go.
"Soul?"
"Hmm?" I asked stopping and looking over my shoulder.
"Just take it easy for awhile, relax, have fun, you've done so much, take a breather. Just have a good time with Maka K? You deserve it."
I nodded and left the death room.
As I was walking through the halls I took his words into account. Sure I deserve a break and relax but I'm not sure if I could, not while Maka's in this state. It kills me that she doesn't remember me at all. I just started to get somewhere with maka relationship wise, and now if there is any trouble we can't rely on our relationship as partners because she doesn't remember how to fight. Maybe it will come naturally to her, but I can't be sure.
I thought harder and then an idea came to me. What If I replayed scenes from her past to enspark some of her memories? It's worth a shot and right now its the best I got.
