Chapter 27

Maka's pov.

I looked up at Stein's house which loomed over us. Boy was I not so excited to be back here. It gave me chills just thinking about our first encounter here.

Kid, Liz and patti, showed up together, fully dressed, clothes looking freshly pressed and as symmetrical as ever. Black star and Tsubaki came shortly after, black star still in his "pajamas" (which consisted of basketball shorts and tank top) that was incredibly rumpled. Tsubaki was ready to go but looked extraordinarily tired.

Liz asked if I had gotten my memories back and when I replied with yes the three girls gave me excited hugs. Kid, cool as ever, had his hands in his pockets and offered me a simple congrats. Black star scoffed, holding his hands behind his head and said "it's about damn time."

I glared at him and threw a book at his face, but I only ended up laughing. "yeah, I guess it is about time huh?"

Black star pouted at me, rubbing his head. I stuck my tongue out at him.

"So what are we all doing here Maka?" Soul asked.

"I'll explain everything when we get inside and get to Stein. The only problem is, getting to him. Black star, you've been in there before right?"

"Yeah." he shivered, "and that's something I really don't wanna do again."

"Well suck it up cuz you're gonna have to. You gotta lead us in there."

"Awe man, alright."

"One thing before we go," Kidd interrupted.

"Yeah what is it?" I ask.

"Black star! how can you show up here looking like that! your clothes! they aren't symmetrical at all! how can you live with yourself!?"

"Get off my back, like I'm gonna take time to iron my clothes, no body's got time for that."

"Well you should! it would improve your battle formation!"

"I honestly think that's just for you kidd."

Kidd went to respond but I cut him off.

"No sense in arguing about it now, there's nothing we can do, besides, we have more important things to worry about. Black star if you will."

"Right."

"Soul, transform. I want everyone to be ready, when we wake up stein I doubt it's gonna be pretty, and who knows what he has in his house."

Black Star and Tsubaki took the lead, Soul and I took middle, and Kidd, Liz, and Patti took the rear. We entered through a window in the back of the house, and cautiously wandered the halls.

Things popped out at us from everywhere, scaring the shit out of all of this. Lets just say, stein has one hell of a security system, and a freaky one at that. We continued entering and exiting rooms, trying to find the one stein sleeps in.

"Black star! which one is his bedroom!?" i asked frustrated.

"How the hell should I know? I only ever broke into his office."

So we ran amuck, opening doors. It came down to only a couple left. Kidd opened one on the left and I opened one on the right.

"Nothing in here." Kidd responded.

In my room there was a bed, a desk with test tubes and textbooks, and a bookshelf. This was definitely Stein's room but...

"Where the hell is he?" Soul asked.

"You kidding? only room in this house that has a bed and he isn't in there?" black star complained.

"Please don't tell me he's in there." Kidd said. We turned around to see what he was staring at. At the end of the hall a set of double doors lie, like the kind at a hospital.
