Chapter 13

Maka's Pov.

We hit a bump that jostled me awake. For a few minutes I was completely unaware of where I was, how I got here, and what I was doing.

I blinked curiously a few times and rubbed the blurriness out of my eyes before I fully came too.

It hit me like a wave, like I knew it was coming but it still took me by surprise.

I'm in kid's car, along with my team and ox's. We are going to investigate further on the machines we discovered and maybe put an end to them. I don't think it will be easy if it really is arachnae behind all of this, or anybody for that matter. I knew this was going to be dangerous and risky, but I've done that before haven't I? I don't know. Just something about all of this makes my stomach churn and everything just seems so.... wrong.

"Watcha thinking about?" Soul whispered in my ear, causing me to shiver.

"Nothing much" I reply. "Just getting focused."

Soul just nodded. I sat up straight and stretched my arms and legs out, yawning a bit.

It wasn't long till the car began to slow, but kid wasn't stopping it. A fog started to form around the car and started stretching out like tendrils to an octopus. It got so thick you couldn't see through the windows and now possibly stretched on for miles. The churning feeling in my stomach just grew deeper.

I felt the mood in the car grow uneasy, and nervous.

"This doesn't look good guys, oh no, this is creepy, this is bad! very very bad!" Liz started freaking out.

"Yeah no shit sherlock, thank you for stating the obvious" Soul said sarcastically, and none too kindly either. I elbowed him in the side and gave him a stern look, but I could feel the tension coming from him too.

"Well I guess we're here." Kid says.

No body responds, and nobody looks at each other, but we all know what we have to do. We pile out of the van and into the thick fog quickly and quietly.

The fog was dark grey with a dark green hue, or aura coming from it. It was hard to breath and the air was thin. I didn't like the looks of this.

We stayed together in a tight circle, and moved together as if we were one. We moved through the fog, keeping our eyes and ears peeled for anything. After a while the fog started to loosen, becoming lighter and the green hue more vibrant. I knew what this meant.

"Soul" I muttered. He didn't say anything but he swiftly transformed and slipped into my grasp. The others transformed as well and black star had Tsubaki snake around us, keeping us together.

We broke into a clearing, just as it had happened the first time we ran into these things, the green hue as bright as ever. They were close I could feel it. I heard a whistling sound and quickly raised soul. I deflected whatever was hurled at us.

As it dropped I observed it more closely. It was a small metal rod with a sharpened end, thin as a needle. The end seemed slicked with liquid which was to be assumed as poison.

I looked for souls in the fog. I found three green souls. I already knew what they were.

"Theres one on the right, my two o'clock. One down the middle, My noon. And one on the left, my ten o'clock." I inform them. " Be careful" I sensed movement and I looked at the souls again. They were moving rapidly and in our direction. "Get ready their coming!" I shouted.

They burst through the clearing, the green arua encircling them. Their feet made no sound this time but they were as frightening as ever. They looked mostly the same as last time, but different. In their stomach there were dozens of the needle type things that was shot at me. It still had four, heavily tattooed arms, but this time thier fingers were knives. They seemed to be smiling at us, showing their jagged pointed teeth, thinking that they already had us beat.
