SoMa at last

Chapter 35

It's been two months since Arachnae's attack on death city. Most of the tunnels are open and the buildings that had been destroyed were newly refurbished. 

As for me, well, I'm finally off crutches. 

It's been tough trying to get back on my feet. Every day a constant struggle but it was getting easier. I went to therapy three times a week, walking with poles and going through special workouts to strengthen my legs. 

I've slowly been regaining feeling in my right leg. I have feeling down to the half point in my calf before it suddenly just . . . shuts off. Stein said I would probably be able to walk fully without a brace next week. 

As of now, I sat watching Kid, Liz, Patty, Blackstar, Tsubaki and Soul play basketball. Kid, Liz and Black star were on a team and Patty, Soul and Tsubaki were on the other. When Crona showed up they tried to teach him how to play. Crona couldn't get it, ragnorock bullied and ultimately Crona couldn't handle it so he came to sit by me and watch the others play. 

I got a new book yesterday and It was very peaceful to be reading it right here. The sun was shining and the clouds floating through the sky were beautifully white and puffy. Birds chirped and a light breeze ruffle the tree's leafs and made the shade sway.

I pushed a lock of hair behind my ear and read the next paragraph. I noticed Stein and my father sitting in the shade spectating my teammates game as well. 

"Hey Maka!" I looked up from my book to confront the blue haired boy in my face. He startled me and had a weird expression on his face. 

"Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

"Oh shit"

"CHOP!" I yell, slamming the book onto his head. 

"Aw man maka, why ya gotta be like that?" He asked, lying on the floor with blood spurting from his forehead and a dead expression on his face. 

"Maybe you shouldn't startle people then." I point out matter of factly while opening my book back up and reading another paragraph. Everyone else was laughing. 

"Anyway, Maka, what he was trying to ask was, If you would join us." Liz asked. 

I looked at my brace then raised my eyebrows at her. 

"We would give you a handicap." Soul interjected. 

I looked at my brace, then my book, and back up at my friends. 

"Ah what the hell." I muttered, putting down the book and standing up. I hobbled over to the court. I managed to convince Crona to play since it would be even and he would be given the same handicapped as me so it would be fair. 

I stayed on one end of the court and when I had the ball the other team could do limited things, which I totally took to my advantage. Needless to say, I was the one scoring most of the points for my team. 

My team won which meant it was time to give punishment to the other teams captain, who was none other than Black Star himself. 

Soul, Tsubaki, Patty and I huddled up. 

"What should we do?" Tsubaki asked. 

I got a wicked grin on my face, "Oh I know just the thing." 

Tsubaki's face fell, "Nothing to horrible ok Maka?" 

I smirked and turned around. Folding my arms I stared at Black Star and he looked like he dreaded what was coming. 

"Black Star, I dare you to. . . " I glanced back at Tsubaki then again to Black Star. "Take Tsubaki out on a date!" I say pointing at him and grinning wildly. The rest of my teammates and his were laughing as Tsubaki was a beet red tomato. Black star had a red tint to his cheeks as well. 

"Alright Tsubaki, Lets go." Black star said walking forward. 

"Nuh uh uh!" I tisked. "You gotta ask her properly." 

He huffs. "Tsubaki, would you like to go on a. . . " He couldn't seem to get the word out. 

"Date?" I ask urging him. 

"Maka" He whined. 

"Say it" I say sternly. 

"Wouldyouliketogoonadatewithme?" He mutters quickly. 

Tsubaki giggles, "I would love to Black star." She says sweetly, and Black star looks a little surprised. 

"Alright! Go on you two have fun!" I say pushing them together and towards the exit. "Make good choices!" I yell once they are outside and I know that both of them turned as red as mickey mouse's pants. 

"Maka you are some kind of Genius." Liz says shaking her head and a sly smile upon her lips. 

"I know. But If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure certain somebodys did the exact same thing to Soul and I. . . " I say accusingly and raising and eyebrow at them. 

They laughed a little. I grabbed Soul's hand. 

"Let's just hope that just like us, all they needed was a little nudge. " I playfully push Soul with my shoulder. 

I looked over to where Stein and my papa were sitting in the shade, they were smiling at us. I waved and they waved back. 

"Hey, lets all have a movie night at my place. I can make dinner too." I say. 

They all shout their approval. 

Everyone sort of helped with the food. It was like we were on a cooking show but they all turned out to be a little experimental. We ultimately got into a food fight in which we got totally messy, and cleaned it up while we waited for the rest of the food to cook. 

It was different without Black Star and Tsubaki here, But Ragnorock easily took place with complaining. 

We made some popcorn, got out chips and candy and soda. Then we popped in a movie. We all found a spot, whether it was on a couch, a chair or the floor, and got comfortable. 

I sighed a relaxed into Soul. 

I really, really, love my family.

So yes, this is the last chapter and I'm sad to see it go, but it's been like two years since I started it! But holy cow has it been a journey. Thank you all for sticking with me for so long!
