The doors to Sarasaland's finest courtroom slammed open, police and guards flanking Dimentio and Daisy, keeping them separated. Dimentio was properly bandaged on his shoulder now, which at least made it manageable. The two accused were taken to opposite sides of the courtroom and individually seated, followed by guards making sure their handcuffs were still on tight. Dimentio hardly attempted to resist as his restraints were tightened, knowing very well that he could simply use his magic if needed. Daisy on the other hand struggled as the guards tried to tighten her restraints.
"Miss, could you PLEASE hold still?" The guard spat through grit teeth.
Daisy let out a huff as the shackles were finally tightened and clamped down firmer on her wrists.
"It's Queen to you!" Daisy retorted.
Dimentio had to repress a snicker as the guard simply shrugged her off. The leader of the police force stepped up to the front of the courtroom, turning to face them, revealing a shiny gold star on the Toad's vest marking him as the leader.
"Listen up because I'm only allowed to say this once," the policeman stated. "The two of you will be presented with your lawyers, then the jury and audience will enter, shortly followed by the judge. Any questions before we start?"
Dimentio slightly raised his hand, indicating that he did have a question.
"I have one," Dimentio replied. "Who will be our lawyers? Just whomever you managed to scrounge up last minute like the leftovers in a barrel?"
Daisy slammed her hands on the table in front of her.
"SHUT UP WITH THE SIMILIES ALREADY!" Daisy shouted.
"Ma'am, please remain calm," the officer told her. "Both of your previously hired lawyers have been summoned here and will accompany you for the trial. They have both agreed to come and shall be here shortly."
Dimentio arched an eyebrow in perplexion while Daisy scoffed.
"Previously hired?" Dimentio questioned.
"Great, so now I have to deal with an incompetent Toadstool for a lawyer," Daisy muttered with an eye roll.
"Sorry, but I have never hired a lawyer prior," Dimentio interrupted, "so who is-?"
Dimentio paused as the doors to the courthouse opened again with a loud groan from the hinges. He and Daisy turned their heads to see a blue Toad in a suit and Albert in his normal formal attire with a smile. Dimentio smiled back at Albert as he walked over towards where he was stationed, Daisy snarling at the pair.
"Albert! I wasn't informed that you were a lawyer?" Dimentio exclaimed in surprise.
"Well, not officially, but I have all of the necessary schooling and I was also the only one willing to assist you," Albert replied.
Daisy growled under her breath, overhearing everything they were saying as her own lawyer started to set up.
"I hope that you realize I'm disowning you, Albert," Daisy spat from where she stood.
Albert chuckled as he pulled out a stack of papers.
"It'll be rather hard to disown me when you never technically adopted me," Albert hummed.
Daisy ground her teeth to keep quiet as the doors opened again, a second policeman Toadstool marching inside.
"The jury will now be seated!" The Toadstool announced.
Dimentio, Albert, and Daisy all turned to see a small group of about four Toads, a Flipside resident, and a Koopa with a green shell enter. The six jury members all walked to their seats, sitting down in two rows overseeing the courtroom, but still below the judge's podium.
