Let Me Show You The World (TVD FF, Klaroline) ON HOLD

Chapter 22

~Klaus~

"What's happening?" Damon shouted to the witch, but she was too engaged in observing the ceiling as it fell down in small pieces. A second later, she was hit by a stone. She staggered and heavily landed on the floor. "You have to get out of here," Klaus yelled, trying to drown out the noise.

Damon turned to him. "No. I'm just as immortal as you."

Well, actually you're not.

Damon looked up, squinting his eyes. "We're under the Grill, right?"

"Yes."

"Maybe Stefan-"

He jumped to the left as a cupboard fell through the hole which had formed in the ceiling. Wine glasses hit the ground, shattering into a thousand pieces. Flinders were scattered all over the floor.

Somebody shouted "Now!", it sounded like Alaric's voice, and an instant later, Stefan stood in front of them, followed by Alaric, Matt and the little Gilbert, who needed a little more time.

Those humans were so damn slow!

Jeremy turned around and when he saw the girls in the cave, he sprinted in their direction without hesitation. "Bonnie," he whispered, kneeling down next to her and starting to shake her body.

Klaus and Damon exchanged a meaningful glance as Stefan's eyes followed Jeremy. Just like Klaus had expected, Stefan tried to get to the girls immediately but was held back by the invisible wall.

"Jer, vampires can't get inside. You have to get them out," Damon said.

Jeremy nodded and tried to remove the chains from the girls' bodies, Alaric and Matt rushed inside the cave to support him.

Knowing there was nothing he could do really depressed Klaus. He could only stand there and watch the humans do their best.

If he was able to get to Caroline, they would already be away from here.

"Hurry up!" he commanded impatiently.

"Do you have any idea how heavy those chains are?" Matt grunted.

"Cassandra, what's going o-?"

Klaus immediately recognized the man entering the cave from the opposite side. He had been there when the witches had pulled Caroline away from him.

The man came to an abrupt stop when he saw Matt, Alaric and the little Gilbert next to the girls. He saw the witch buried under the stones and tears filled his eyes immediately. "Did you do this?" He pointed to the witch and his voice trembled in rage.

He didn't wait for an answer. He lifted the boys, all three of them, up from the ground with a single movement of his arm, shock evident in their expressions. Klaus was pretty sure only strong witches were capable of doing that. Using his other hand, he broke Caroline's neck as she opened her eyes.

This was enough for Klaus. He grabbed a big stone, held it in his hands for a few seconds and then threw it at the man with so much force it was probably enough to kill him. But he was faster than he had expected and jumped to the side; the stone scattered into a million pieces as it crashed into the wall. He dropped the boys.

"Nice try", he said, still grinning as devilishly as ever, despite the tears he wiped from his face.

Klaus let go of scream, swearing at the invisible wall preventing him from tearing the man apart.

"Just go ahead you stupid little coward, hiding behind a spell to protect you. Why don't you come outside to show me how brave you are?"

"I am not stupid," he replied with a smirk.

When Klaus turned around, he noticed Stefan and Damon were not with him anymore. Where had they gone? Had they popped off?

He got his answer just a few seconds later when the ceiling started shaking again. Just like before, stones crumbled from the walls and the ceiling, but this time a little farther on the man's side.

Oh, he could guess what they were up to. It was dangerous, yes, but why hadn't he thought of that?

The man was distracted by Klaus, so he didn't notice when the Salvatores jumped down from the Grill behind him and landed next to the girls. They didn't need a lot of time to loosen the chains and free them.

Apparently, there was no spell on the other side of the room where the girls were. They had probably only bewitched a small part of the cave to keep vampires out.

Klaus pretended to be shocked by the moving earth to make sure to keep the guy's attention on him. He had to listen in to hear Stefan whisper to Damon: "Get them outside. I'll get them," he said and pointed to the boys lying on the floor directly in that part a vampire could not get inside. Damon nodded, grabbed a girl on each arm and jumped to take first Bonnie and Elena outside. Stefan helped him. Then, he did the only thing that could make a vampire get inside a place where they were not allowed. He jumped from above, because gravity was stronger than their spell, sat down next to Alaric, Jeremy and Matt to take all of them outside. It wasn't hard to see Stefan was almost choking inside the bewitched zone. He struggled to pull them out, but collapsed to the ground just a few inches before he got out of the spell's area. He coughed and in that very moment, the man swung around.

"Woah! How did you get in here?" He took a step back and his eyes widened, but when he looked closely at Stefan, he stood still. "You don't look so fine."

Stefan had to get out of here; otherwise he was going to die. Klaus grabbed another stone and this time, he hit the man directly to the head. He tumbled and collapsed.

"Stefan!" Klaus yelled. "Get out of here."

Wow. Where was this empathy from?

Stefan did as Klaus had said. He got up, used his last energy to get himself away from the bewitched zone and started breathing fast as he fell to his knees, leaving the boys only a few inches from the border.

Ugh. He always had to do everything himself!

He followed Stefan's example and jumped up, landing inside the Grill, which looked absolutely devastated, and let himself fall next to the boys. For an instant, it felt like somebody was trying to rip his lungs out. He tried to hold his breath until he had dragged the boys so far he could finally breathe. He enjoyed the second the air filled his lungs.

"Come on, you have to get up. I can hear someone coming," he said to Stefan.

Stefan weakly stood up, and jumped up with Matt and Alaric, leaving Caroline and the little Gilbert for Klaus. He carelessly threw him over his shoulder and held her on his arms as he safely escaped the cave as the steps and a singing woman's voice came closer.
