|❁ Was that the right decision ❁|
It had been two days since her father announced that she would be taking over his duties as king. Natasha started to have her doubts.
People would glance at her in the street and mutter things under their breath.
Sometimes she heard what they were saying. That she didn't deserve the throne. That she was illegitimate because she was adopted. Some would even say that she didn't care about the kingdom.
But Natasha, yes Natasha cared. She cared far too deeply about people who didn't like her.
This was her chance though. To step up and help those in need, queer people such as herself. Make up for her father's wrong doings and take her kingdom into her own hand.
This project of hers was big and needed as much help as she could get.
So she went to her favourite archer, Robin Hood.
Her best friend, of course.
Clint Barton.
Annoying lovable idiot, who was very relatable by the public's standards. From his obsession with coffee to his sarcastic and witty humour. Natasha loved him with her whole heart, even if she did forget he existed sometimes.
"Natasha." He started. He threw an arm over her shoulder and messed up her hair. She scoffed, smiling fondly at him. "Congratulations on being queen. Does that mean I have to listen to you now."
"Like that would ever happen." Natasha replied. They laughed as they walked over to where the archer was practising.
He handed a bow to Natasha and a quiver of arrows.
She smirked at him as they both aimed at their targets.
"I haven't seen you in forever. Did you forget how to shoot?" Clint remarked. They counted down from three.
3.
"No. Did you? Your aim is looking awful today." Natasha shot back. He chuckled and shook his head.
2.
"That's rich coming from you, My Queen."
1.
They shot at the same time. They both watched closely as their arrows travelled through the air and to the targets. Clint hit the bullseye dead on whilst Natasha missed by an inch or two.
Natasha scoffed as Clint laughed to the side of her. She rolled her eyes and elbowed him in the side.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Being right."
He cocked his head to the side in confusion. Natasha sighed at him before going over to her target and retrieving her arrow.
"So I came to ask something from you." Natasha shouted to the other.
He scoffed and held his hand over his heart. "So you didn't just want to hang out with me."
Natasha laughed quietly, smiling at him.
"No, why would I ever do that?" She remarked, patting his shoulder.
Clint gasped loudly and frowned deeply at her.
"You wound me Honey, you really do." He stated.
They laughed and headed into Clint's house for some food and to talk.
"So what did you want?" Clint asked, placing a cup of tea in front of Natasha.
"As you know I've been elected queen." She started, Clint hummed, nodding his head along. "Well. My father was a bad man, and is still a bad man. Killed many innocent people for things that couldn't be controlled. I want to make up for that. Give people a place to feel safe and at home. Free."
"That's a big ask Natasha. People don't forgive so easily."
"I know. That is why I want your help. I know they won't forgive easily and that's why I want to make an effort. Prove that I am nothing like the piece of shit my father is. So will you join me." Natasha asked. She saw the usual glint of mischief hit Clint's eye as he started to smile.
"Absolutely. Defy the trust of the previous king in favour of minorities like myself." He gestured to his hearing aid. "Of course I will join. Plus this is going to be fun."
Natasha shook her head at him, a small laugh escaping her lips. "This is why they call you Robin Hood, you know."
He grinned at her before standing up.
"Take from the rich and give to the poor I say." He declared.
They both laughed before continuing on with their tea and snacks.
Conversations about anything and everything took place, Clint sure knew the latest gossip of the town.
