|❁ The Ball ❁|

Loud music filled the room. People danced in the centre while the less social stuck to the sides.

The chef had prepared many different types of food. The most popular being the croissants, mostly eaten by Steve and Sam.

Wanda rolled her eyes as she saw them fight over the last croissant, Bucky was too busy laughing to break them up.

"Guys stop. Give me the croissant." She held out her hand and in return received a scoff from Sam.

But alas the croissant was handed over to Wanda. Both boys waited for Wanda to give them the croissant; however, she just took a bite and walked away from them, laughing as she went.

"Woah, hey! That's not fair!" Both Steve and Sam yelled at the same time. Bucky laughed even harder at their faces.

Wanda was already out the door. She snuck away from the ballroom and off to a balcony for a quick breather.

When she got to the doorway she could see a figure looking out into the sky, it wasn't exactly night but it wasn't morning either. A blue hue hung over the forest that surrounded the back of the castle.

"Hello?" Wanda greeted with curiosity, lacing her voice as she stepped out of the door.

The person seized up at her voice. Wanda stepped closer so she could see what the person looked like.

"Natasha? You didn't tell me you were coming to my ball."

Natasha turned to Wanda. A smile on her face.

"Surprise?" She shrugged guiltily.

"Certainly is." Wanda laughed. She leant against the bannister of the balcony, facing the door she came through.

"Sorry I didn't tell you. It's just-" She took a deep breath in. "I don't want you to hate me for where I'm from."

"I don't think I could ever hate you." Wanda let out a breathy laugh, a small genuine smile on her face.

"I think you can. But anyway, what's this whole ball about? I didn't really listen when my mum was telling me about it." Natasha smiled and turned away from Wanda, once again looking out into the woods.

"It's for me to find a partner to work alongside me when I become queen." Wanda shrugged. "My parents are dead as well as my brother so that's fun, I guess."

"I'm sorry. That must suck."

"Yeah but what else can you do? It's funny because they were killed by the same people." Natasha looked at Wanda for that statement. A slightly taken aback look on her face.

"Who by?" She asked. Wanda shifted her gaze to look at Natasha.

"Azuran soldiers. Ordered by the king himself. I don't know who he is but I want revenge."

Natasha's heart sank. She didn't know that, her father would tell her nothing.

Footsteps interrupted them.
