20 years later.
Kitty sat doing needle point in the court yard watching her brothers teaching their younger brother Bran how to use a bow. He kept missing, he was getting very disappointed and mad.
"Don't worry Brandon you will get it eventually. They have a lot more practice than you. Don't give up." Kitty said sweetly as she finished her needlepoint. She always made cats. From small black cats to big strong lions. Hence the nickname Kitty. She loved cats but her father said cats in winterfell were not a good idea. Ghost, Jon and Kittys dog jumped up and put his large head on her lap. She stroked his ears as he closed his eyes.
"I'm not giving up!" Bran snapped. "I'm going to be a knight. I have purpose. You are never going to amount to anything!" Kitty's smile dropped as her brother spoke. Her family always treated her this way she was used to it but it disappointed her every time all the same.
"Bran!" Jon smacked Brans arse with the flat edge of his sword. Bran jumped up outraged.
"How dare you!" He screamed and ran off. "I'm telling mother!" Jon scoffed while Robb chuckled.
"You don't have to stand up for me." Kitty whispered when Jon sat down next to her.
"I don't have too. I want to." He kissed her head and wrapped an arm around her. "You are my sister and I love you dearly."
"If you would treat me like the rest of them maybe they would be nicer to you. Its not fair that the both of us have to suffer." She said softly leaning into him. She loved Jon. He was the only one besides her father that actually cared about her. she didn't want to lose him but she knew one day they would be separated.
"You my dear are stuck with me forever." Jon informed her. Kitty started rubbing at her knee where the false leg scrapped against her flesh. "You hurting little one?" He asked when she nodded he lifted her dress to her knee and saw the red inflamed skin. "You need a new one." He informed her. "That one is rusting and causing more pain than it is helping."
"The cold makes the metal hurt." She informed him, which he already knew. Her false leg was strapped to her thigh with a thick leather belt and pinned directly into her flesh.
"It's winterfell not kings landing my dear its always cold."
"Maybe that's why it always hurts!" She countered.
"Let me help you out of it then, yeah?" She nodded dropping her dress back to her feet. Jon jumped off the table and helped her down. "The library?" She nodded using Jon as a cane as they walked to the library.
Once inside and on the couch she flipped off her cloak and hiked up her dress again. Jon nodded to Ghost to sit with her. she undid the leather and gently tugged at the nails her face pinched in pain. No matter how many times she did this, piercing her flesh and removing it was awful.
"I'll get you some milk of the poppy. I will be right back." With that jon was off. Kitty pulled out a book and Ghost snuggled in.
When the dire wolves were found there was one for every child. Five perfect wolves and a white one. When the boys got home each child was awarded a wolf to look after. Kitty was given the white one. Jon stood idly by as his siblings started to name the wolves and play with them.
"Jon?" she asked and he moved to her, the white wolf curling into her lap. "You didn't get one?"
"No, that's alright though love..." he looked disappointed but still tried to smile for his sister.
"We can share mine." She suggested and Jon shook his head.
"No, no love it's yours, your-"
"I'm a cripple that cant give it proper training and exercise it needs to flourish into a strong dire wolf one day..." she explained. "you would really be doing me a favor." She added and jon smiled at her.
"What shall you name it?"
"What shall we name it?" she corrected.
