I woke up to my alarm blaring into my ears. It was Thursday and today was Crystal's family function. She was over her moms and had been all week, I was kinda salty about that, but I get it. Family first. Not to mention her mom chewed our asses out we she found out I came and stole her from them that night. So yea I've only seen her through FaceTime. It was 10am and I had some business I needed to handle today, I had a meeting with a few contractors. So I haven't told anyone just yet but I just finished school to become a licensed mental health counselor. And Id been trying to build a building for young girls and women who had been through trauma in there upbringing. It was something important to me because I too had been through something traumatic. And because counseling is what help me. And recently my passion grew for it. So many young women and girls were down here on the streets or strung out because they couldn't get the help they needed. Which is why I'm building a nonprofit organization for the community. I got up did my hygiene routine and put on my all black button down suit, with my gold cuff links. And straighten my hair with a buss down middle part. I looked damn good if you asked me. I grabbed my phone and keys heading out.
"Good morning boss lady." One of the guys smiled to me as I walked in.
"Good morning fellas, I hope everything's well." I said sitting at the round table
"Indeed it is. We have great news. The mayor approved you for the location right in the middle of the city. The initial location you wanted the first time."
"What?! This is great! What made him change his mind?"
"No clue, but I did hear from the streets that he has a daughter. Apparently she been struggling for quite some time. Maybe she's the reason he had a change of heart." I nodded making a mental note to look into that.
"Well I appreciate you guys for helping with that part. When can we officially start?"
"Well we do have everything ready and filed all we need is a Signature from you signing the official contractors agreement and we need to go over activities resources schedule/time frame and budget." We discussed important details and I signed everything that needed signing and we ended our meeting on good terms
"Well fellas thanks for everything, I'm excited to get started with you all bright and early Monday morning!" I said shaking everyone's hand
"Sure thing boss! See you Monday!" I left the office in a great ass mood and I wanted to celebrate. It was going on 2:30 in the afternoon and I wanted to go out for a celebratory lunch. Hopefully I can steal Crystal for a few hours. I went home stripping out of my suit and putting my hair up. It was hot as hell here in Texas. Plopping on my bed I called Crys
"Hey babe" she smiled into the camera
"Hey sexy, what you up to?" She looked so good. Her natural curly hair and chocolate smooth skin.
"Nothing, moms got ant nem putting up decorations" she laughed referring to her brothers
"So does this mean you free for a lil bit?"
"Mmm I might can sneak off. Everyone is busy nobody will notice."
"Not our grown asses sneaking around." I laughed I just thought it was so funny
"I know, I feel like a damn teenager all over again." She chuckled
"Well I wanna see you. They been keeping you hostage. I wanna go grab lunch."
"Ok, well pick me up in about 30min, I'll be out front."
"Bet, I'll be there." We hung up and I put on something simple a wife beater with some hoochie daddy shorts. That's what they call them now lol and pull my hair down to a low bun.

I made it to her house in 10 and like she said she was standing outside
"You look good" She said to me getting in
"Thank you baby" I leaned over kissing her
"I missed you mamas." I said pecking her lips twice before pulling back
"I know, I'm sorry. I don't know what up with ma, she been on one this whole week."
"It's ok, at least we'll have the weekend"
"Yea I'm ready to see what Mililani is having, I know everyone is excited. But what's up with you? You extra smiley today"
"Just been a good day, I got some good news today. I'll explain everything when we get our food. You want to sit in or you want to go somewhere and park?"
"Let's go park so we can have some alone time, I don't really want to be bothered with people." We decided on something simple since the park would be starting soon. We got Wendy's and pulled up to a park. Surprisingly it was empty. We reclined our seats and dug into our food.
"Ok sooooo" I started
"Nobody knows this but, I recently finished school earning my license to be a mental health counselor."
"Shut up! Congratulations baby! I'm so proud off you, why didn't you tell me!"
"Well I just wanted to do it alone, I wanted to prove to myself that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to."
"Of course you can, and you did. I'm so proud of you."
"Well that's not all, so upon getting my license I decided to start a non profit organization. It's many young women and girls who are out here living just like I once was. Unstable homes, abusive relationships, homelessness...." I had to take a breath, talking about made all those emotions come back.
"I really wanted to do something for the community, so I've been working on get a building made for women and young girls. A place where they have consistently a place where they can feel safe and not have to worry about where there next meal is coming from. So that's really what my excitement is about today I officially got approved for the location I wanted and we will begin building Monday." I smiled
"Oh baby. This is amazing, you are amazing. And I can't wait to see you prosper within yourself and your future." She said hugging me
"Thanks babe, I really do appreciate it I want to be there for these girls. I know how hard life can be."
