"Damn, you really thought I would miss it?" I quickly turned around looking at her. I knew her voice from anywhere.
"Deyja." I called to her getting her attention. I nodded to Rae
"That's her?" She asked I nodded not able to take my eyes off her.
"Oh shit. What are you going to do?" I had a feeling I'd see her here, but I still wasn't actually prepared.
"Nothing. If it happens it happens." Mililani came running to her hugging her. I turned away trying to stay unseen
"You need to stop running. This needs to happen." Deyja said
"Not now or here. It's not the time or place."
"But -"
"I need everyone to come to the back of the yard, and mama come on let's get the show on the road!" Cam said cutting Deyja off which I was glad for.
"I'll do it just not now. Please understand that."
"Fine. Let go catch our seats" she grabbed my hand pulling me to the chairs in the back. I wanted to stay towards the back so I'd be unseen
"Let's just sit here I don't want to-" I was cut off by someone bumping into me.
"Shit my bad-" ofc it had to be her. Lord why now. She didn't say anything. She couldn't. And neither could I.
"Sorry, come on kodie." Deyja said pulling me.
"Sorry" I said my voice barely above a whisper. I ripped my eyes away from hers instantly feeling regret. Her eyes read so much emotion. Emotion that I wasn't sure I wanted to unravel.
"Your ok, breathe." Deyja said as we sat down
"Breathe." She said grabbing my hands. I didn't realize I was shaking until now.
"You ok. I gotchu" she hugged me. A few minutes I finally got myself together I don't know What happened. Cam and Lani took the stage a began to speak
"Thank y'all so much for coming out tonight, everyone knows how much I love this girl. I mean really really love this girl." Cam said into the mic holding one of Lani's hand
"I just wanted to say thank you to my baby, for being the beautiful and strong woman that she is, I want to thank her for carrying our first born. I know it wasn't easy, and going through that showed me how strong you are." By now Lani was full on crying
"I love you baby and I wouldn't want to be here with anyone else." Cam finished kissing her as everyone clapped for them
"Alright everybody! This how we gonna do this, if you look under your seats everyone has a confetti popper. Now before we get to it I want to get a vote. How many think it's a girl?" Mililani's mom asked only a few raised their hands
"Danggg ok then so I'm guessing, everybody else want a boy?" She laughed
"Hell yea!" Everybody laughed
"Well i know I want a lil grandson. Cause chileee Mililani. Whew she was a handful."
"Really mama? You just gone put me out like that?"
"Girl you and I both know...." She giving Lani a look making everybody laugh
"But anywho! I'm just happy with a healthy baby! Now everyone stand up. And we all pop on three! Ok, 1....2....3!!!!"
