THIS IS IT, Lanelle beamed with excitement. She finished packing her bags,and went outside. Seeing that her mom was already waiting for her in the car.
"Finally" Lanelle's mom, Ilana sighed.
Lanelle put her bags in the trunk. She opened the car door and got in her seat.
"What were you doing?" her mom asked her,
Lanelle looked at her mom with an expression that said "are you kidding me"
"Trying to drown myself in the shower." She responded, her mom gave her a look.
"What you don't believe me" Lanelle acted surprised.
Her mom didn't respond, but instead she started the car. While she was driving she bluntly asked a question.
"Do you always have to be sarcastic" Her mom wondered
Lanelle looked at her with a puzzled expression
"It's my only defence mechanism" she explained
"For what, why do you have to be defensive?"
Lanelle sighed, "if only you knew" she muttered
"What was that, honey?"
"Oh I was just thinking about the beach house, and how I'll immediately jump on the bed and sleep." she shared
"Well, aren't you going to hang out with the group?"
Lanelle shrugged,
"I don't know, I just want to lay in bed and think."
Her mom looked at her with a puzzled expression
"What is there to think about?"
"Everything bad that's ever happened to me"
"Yeah, okay"
Lanelle put on the radio,and luck was on her side. Since the song, "Afterglow" by Taylor swift was playing.
She started humming the tune and fiddling with her shoes. Lanelle looked at the window and saw that they arrived.
She saw Steven, Isabel's or how they call her "Belly's", older brother. Lanelle slightly smiled
"This is going to be a great summer!"
She stepped out of the car and saw Jeremiah. He started walking towards them.
"What's up!" he yelled,
Jeremiah went over to Lanelle to give her a hug but, she had already spotted Isabel.
Lanelle ran to Belly like her life depended on it, and they hugged. Neither wanted to let go.
When they finally let go they started telling each other how they missed each other so much.
"Look at my best friend, you're even more gorgeous then before" Belly looked at her in adoration.
Lanelle beamed at the compliment, "Me, have you seen yourself? You're gorgeous belly"
Jeremiah separated them, and took Lanelle in his arms. He looked her in the eyes and was at loss for words,
"Wow, you're gorgeous"
Lanelle smiled at him, a warm feeling spreading over her body at the compliment, "Thank you"
He unwrapped his arms around her, but place one hand on her lower back.
He looked at her with his eyebrows raised,
"What no sarcastic remark?"
Lanelle smirked at that comment,
"No not today I'm tired", she responded while taking his hand of her lower back. It gave her the shivers.
Susannah,immediately hugged the girl when she saw her,
"Lanelle, my sweet girl. Oh how you've grown. Oh my and look at you! You're beautiful"
Lanelle hugged her closer,she started looking around since she hasn't seen one person. And that was Conrad, but he was too busy having a staring contest with Belly.
Susannah unwrapped her arms around Lanelle, so Lanelle took this as the chance to go to Steven.
She saw Steven and immediately hugged him from behind.
"I missed you, dork"
"Whatever I missed you too, loser"
Lanelle let go of Steven, when she let go he immediately grabbed her hand and dragged her over to Conrad and belly.
"Hey guys I don't know about you but",
He pretended to look at his watch,
"I think it's time for a bellyflop!"
The boys all started chasing her around, except for Jeremiah. He sneakily wrapped his arms around Lanelle's waist, and picked her up.
She saw that belly was already in the water. So the boys were already looking at her. Steven grabbed her left leg and Conrad took her right.
"Nelly time" Steven muttered.
And before she knew it she was in the water.
Belly and Lanelle had the same idea, "Conrad can you help me get out" Belly questioned
While Jeremiah stood at the edge of the pool,
"Need any help" he questioned with a smirk on his face
Normally Lanelle would say,
"I can get out myself, but thank you" but since she wanted payback. She accepted the offer.
Lanelle maliciously smiled at him,
"Yeah, thanks"
She grabbed his hand and took him in the pool with her.
Jeremiah wiped the water off his face,
"You dragged me into the pool with you!" he pointed out, while pointing his finger at her.
She chuckled, "Thanks captain obvious."
Jeremiah smiled, "anything for you"
he tried to kiss her hand, but she quickly took her hand out of his grasp.
