EVERY YEAR BELLY'S BIRTHDAY FELL ON THE FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND, Taylor would be coming along this year, as usual.

It's not that Lanelle hates Taylor, but there's some ongoing tension as Lanelle feels like Taylor takes all the "attention" for herself and leaves Belly with nothing. Like last year, on Belly's 15th birthday, she made the entire day about herself. It seemed more like Taylor's birthday than Belly's.

Belly literally came crying to Lanelle, talking about how she felt selfish for wishing to have a bit of attention that day, and how she made Belly feel like the side character in her own life, she didn't have to tell Lanelle that for her to notice.

And don't even get her started on how she calls Jeremiah, "Jeremy" , because she thinks it's cute.

Lanelle wasn't a big fan of the Fourth of July weekend, as she felt more comfortable with her mom, Laurel along with Susannah. Besides, seeing everyone with their dad, makes her feel, alone?

She can't place a word on it, but being the only one without a father during the Fourth of July weekend, that hurts.

Mr. Fisher is obviously spending time with his own kids, as he hasn't been around them for a while, the same for Belly and Steven.

Honestly, she couldn't blame them, but it still doesn't hurt any less.

The only person she has is her mother and she couldn't be any more grateful, her mom is her rock, her best friend, the best role model in the world, she couldn't ask for a better mother. But sometimes she finds herself wondering how life would be if her dad, if she could even call him that, wouldn't have left.

Lanelle's dad isn't a very talked about — and well liked person, the subject is quite personal and sensitive to her, so it's best to avoid the topic in general.

As the girl was zoning out for quite awhile, she felt Jeremiah's hands on both her shoulders. Lanelle turned around in fear, that caused her to face Jeremiah as their faces were barely apart, one small move and their lips would meet.

"Hi", Jeremiah breathed out, as he could practically hear her breathing rhythm fastening because of their closure.

The girl slightly shook her head and softly pushed Jeremiah back,

"U-um, hi" she stumbled over her words, recovering from what just happened.

"Did I catch you off guard, my Nelly?" He teased her as he took his hands off her shoulder and slid one hand down her waist.

She scoffed, "I'm not yours, Jeremiah"

He leaned in closer, "I love it when you say my name."

Lanelle got out of his grip, "You're awfully touchy today. What do you want?"

The blonde boy smiled at her, "You."

Lanelle acted as she was puking, "That was one of the most cringiest things you've ever said. Don't stay that again."
