This time it wasn't the sun that had woken us.
My head was tucked into Asha's shoulder; arm slung around his torso, when loud sounds faded into my sleep.
"Woof woof" I heard loudly against my ear.
"Azy, stop" I muttered against Asha's chest, not yet wanting to open my eyes."Woooof!" Again.
"Azy" I mumbled annoyed.Laughter. Now laughter was audible.
A person next to me was laughing. No. Not just one but two.God damn-it.
"Woof woof" The voice said again.
"You two little fuckers. How the hell did you get in here" I heard Asha low grumble from beneath me."You forgot your spare key at mine, remember?" James thrilled trough the room.
I finally opened my eyes; and there I found Luke and James standing before the bed; fingers interlaced, beaming brightly at us.
"Wake up, lovebirds!" James cooed trough the room.
"James" Asha growled as he threw his pillow across the room; hitting James right in the face."Oh cut the morning mood, sunshine. Today is an amazing day! Get dressed, we're going on a road trip!"
When Asha turned to send James a death glare, Luke took a step backwards.
"I think he got it, darling. Or that pillow is not the only thing that'll have hitten your face"I smiled at the two of them.
Then Asha and I got ready. We packed several things for these upcoming hours in the car, which surely would get really...interesting. No doubt.8 am.
It was 8 am and James and Asha were singing ,slash screaming songs trough the entire car.I looked at Luke next to James in the backseat but he stared at his boyfriend who was both; vibing and moving to the music. Luke shook his head laughingly. Full of admiration his eyes were. Full of life.
When I turned to Asha in the driver-seat, I took the hand that has to the rhythm been tapping against the stirring wheel and held it.
Hours passed. Several stops we took. At the weirdest but uniquest kinds of places.
James had always dreamt of eating at this one restaurant. Obviously our small town didn't have it. Neither did our bigger neighbour cities. Now it apparently had opened. But not in vicinity. Yet the closest. A five hours drive my phone had said, that evening James told us about it.
We laughed at him. Taken him for utterly ridiculous. But here we were now, because of James convincing skills, which I did not even remember. What I did remember, tough was the mention of a road trip day. The four of us in a car for a day; chasing James desired destination.
One gas-station we held at, was directly at a sea so blue we had to spend time there.
One gas-station stood next to a farm. It smelt of cow shit, but that was still not enough to disturb us in the slightest. We did take selfies with the cows. Joked with them. Actually, we did joke about them and then laughed at their faces afterwards, but who cared about that.
The next stop was not by a gas-station actually. It was just land. Grass. Nature.
Asha had insisted. None of had us declined. When we got out of the car; Asha took ahold of my hand and lead me onto the field. He spun me around and laughed. We laughed. We loved.
When James and Luke joined us, James kept kneeling down; picking up grass only to throw it at Luke. With passion.
Luke kept showing his boyfriend the middle finger, which just seemed to encourage James more and more.
When Luke finally decided it was enough; he took quick hold of James wrist and pulled him against him.
"You little shit, keep doing that. And you won't be the little spoon for a week."
James abruptly came to an halt—grass all ready in his hand. Clear terror overcame his face. I slapped a hand against my mouth to not immediately erupt into laughter.James expression turned into a whiny one. "You wouldn't dare" He whispered; no hint of joking to see. Luke nodded.
"I would"
"No"
"Yes"
"No" James sounded so unbelievably out of breath now.Luke turned to head into direction of the car again, as James came running and seized him back by his hand.
"No please. Please, it was a joke, baby. Don't do this to me" Before having even given Luke a chance to respond, he wrapped his arms around him; pulling him so tight to his chest—-Luke looked like he suffocated.
James fingers ran trough Luke's hair as he kept whispering things into his ear.
Luke only smiled peacefully to that, laying his arms around James body as well.We got into the car again. We drove. Asha and I talked; gazes towards the road. Nearly whispered we have, because James and Luke in the backseat fell asleep.
I turned to them.
James head rested on Luke's shoulder— Luke's head on top—Hands intertwined in front of them.
Adorable"Wake up lovebirds" Asha turned to our friends in the backseat. "We're here"
James eyes sprung open. The parking lot of the restaurant was full.
The lights of the restaurant were bright.
James face was bright. And once we got in; the sight of so unbelievably many eager people here met us. I didn't even know how we managed to get a table. But we did eventually. The perfect spot.
We ate. We drunk. We had fun. So much fun. It was the best day of James life.
