They were getting dressed when Wei Ying remembered something.

"So why did you take so long coming back?" He asked Lan Zhan.

Lan Zhan was positively sunny now.

He had warmed up Wei Ying from the inside and out, and nothing made him feel better than that. But he sobered up at Wei Ying's question.

"Xiongzhang walked into a Truth Trap."

"What?" Wei Ying let out a peal of laughter.

"And he won't stay in the Hanshi and let it wear off. He insists on working."

Lan Zhan looked pained.

"Um...so where is he now?"

"I left him in the Great Hall. With your brother."

"No way!" Wei Ying really tried to hold it in, but he was soon a bent over mess, giggling silly. "We should probably go see if they're okay, then?" He said, still clutching his sides. "I can't believe you left him, though."

"After JingYi came to see me..." Lan Zhan defended himself.

"Ah yes... that little snitch..." Wei Ying said, fondly. "You know he's getting married soon, right?"

"Mn." Lan Zhan brought over a new, dry coat and tied it around Wei Ying. "May I...."

Wei Ying took in his reddening ears.

"May you...what?" He sidled closer and wrapped his arms around Lan Zhan’s waist, looking up into the most beautiful golden eyes.

"Carry Wei Ying?"

Now it was Wei Ying’s turn to blush.

"Why? I know I promised you could, but I didn't think you'd take it so literally, you know." He beamed up at him, happy that Lan Zhan was at least asking him first. And he didn't really mind, if he was honest.

He could feel the fatigue closing in on his body but he didn't say anything yet. Maybe this time it wouldn't be so bad.

"I like carrying Wei Ying." Lan Zhan admitted. "It is the best thing...Next to Wei Ying carrying me."

Those last words brought tears to Wei Ying's eyes.

"I wish...I wish I could. Every day, I wake up hoping that I'll be better and we can go back to being normal again..." He dashed them away, tears clogging his throat now. "I wish we knew what was wrong with me...then we could cure it, make it go away."

Nothing was worse than seeing the worry in Lan Zhan’s eyes every time he was falling asleep...not knowing when Wei Ying was going to wake up...if Wei Ying was going to wake up.

Lan Zhan held him close, cradling his head.

If this lost feeling was making him panic about Wei Ying...how much worse was it for him, who was undergoing all these mysterious symptoms?

Lan Zhan told himself to be brave now, braver for his Wei Ying.

"It will be alright. We will find something...something to help us. Little Rabbit is going through medical books when not studying. Hui Gai is checking the lore in the Nether World, and your grandmother will come by soon."

"Yes...yes, you're right. We'll know what it is in no time at all. My grandmother is amazing!" Wei Ying felt better immediately at that.

"Mn." Lan Zhan agreed.

"Now let's go see what your brother and mine are up to..." Wei Ying smiled up at him.

Lan Zhan was never ready for that smile.
