Wen Ning wondered where to start. There was so much to tell them, all of it concerning their immediate family, that for a few seconds, he had to think carefully. He had never hidden anything from Young Master Wei and he didn't intend to do so now.
"This is the ancient resting place of Dragons." Suanni answered for him.
Wei Ying’s eyes were round with fascination and curiosity.
"Your family was worried about you, ever since the cocoon was formed." Suanni looked towards their empty membrane lying on the array in tatters.
"We were in that?" His voice was filled with disbelief.
Wei Ying went towards it, with Lan Zhan. Their hands had reconnected whilst they were talking, and even now, while Wei Ying crouched down to run his fingers over the thready wisps of the torn cocoon, his other hand remained ensconced within the other's.
Where it belonged.
"How?" He asked in wonder. "I'm pretty certain I didn't do it..." He looked up at his husband in awe. "Was it you?"
Lan Zhan thought back to that last day. Their union after so long, had been cherished and experienced in such a wondrous way that he had fallen asleep content and utterly satiated. He remembered kissing Wei Ying as the last thing before his eyes had closed....and then there was nothing.
No...not nothing...
He fought to remember.
"I remember...Wei Ying...not feeling alone." He admitted.
"Yes...me too." Wei Ying stood up, squeezing his hand. "There was darkness...and...I remember feeling tired...but I was not worried because...because you were there. We were together."
Lan Zhan was looking at him in that soft way of his, a look reserved only for his Wei Ying. It was full of admiration, adoration and love. Wei Ying was here, and Wei Ying was healthy. Two things which he had always wanted.
"There are changes in our bodies..." Lan Zhan said.
It was such an understatement, that Wei Ying burst into laughter. He laughed so much, there were tears in his eyes and even when he finished laughing, the odd giggle erupted whenever he looked at Lan Zhan. There was only one way to remedy this, so Lan Zhan took him into his arms.
This feeling...of holding everything he cherished, everything that was precious to him here, in his arms...it was all he could wish for, all he would wish for, for the rest of his life. And if Wei Ying was laughing, then that was just an added bonus.
Wei Ying wrapped his arms around Lan Zhan and squeezed him tight, smiling when the other gasped.
Realisation was slow to kick in, but they both spoke together in awe.
"Your strength!"
"My strength!"
The delight on Wei Ying’s face was solid.
"My love! I can carry you again! I feel normal...just like I did before all that tiredness and sleeping too much happened..." and then he frowned as another thought occurred to him. "That's totally not fair, you know! I was going through the change for months and months and you only for just days! How long has it been, anyway?" They turned to the others who were cautiously looking at anywhere but them.
"In human days, I'm guessing a week..." Wen Ning said..."But here, time moves faster so I'm not sure."
"Time moves faster??" Wei Ying was genuinely shocked. "I'm guessing that's a good thing...but that means we've been away from our babies for over a week..." Wei Ying became immediately sad. "And our brothers." He looked up to Lan Zhan. "We should get back." And then he slapped his forehead, making Lan Zhan frown.
"Lan Zhan, my love! I totally forgot! That Demon...the Sleeping Sickness one...he said they wanted Rumi! I can't believe I never told anyone that!" He looked distraught.
"Hui Gai knows more." Wen Ning told them. "But I lost contact with him after he came here. There is something stopping all communication on this mountain." He frowned too.
"Hui Gai was here?" Wei Ying felt as if he should be sitting down for the entirety of this conversation, because Wen Ning was throwing out shock after shock.
"Yes. After the Young Masters were discovered in their state...the Soothsayer returned to Cloud Recesses with a feather that looked like it came from your wings." Wen Ning finally put two and two together.
"The babysitter called us." Shen Ling told them.
"JingYi? JingYi called you?" Wei Ying asked. That part at least, was easiest to believe.
Wei Ying knew JingYi had kept a constant contact with his babies all along, and he was very happy about that. There was something else he wanted to discuss with Lan Zhan about the boy....but it could wait for now. He had a feeling that there was more, much more that they had to learn from Wen Ning and their friends.
"Your Grandmother was also there, but she had to leave." Shen Qing informed them.
"Even I did not know what to do." Suanni admitted. "But it seemed only fitting we bring you here...where in the past, all dragons came here. To be born and to die."
Wei Ying shivered at his words.
"Your children followed you here. Hui Gai had put a tracking talisman on the cocoon which I was following, and then I ran into your nephew, A-Yuan and JingYi. His girlfriend was with them. They had made the dragon babies carry them here." Wen Ning glanced at the Dragon parents, hoping he had not just gotten them into trouble.
But Shen Ling just laughed.
"No matter how big they get, children will be children. All three are naughty rascals who do not even listen to their mother." Shen Ling said with a fond look in his eyes, as he gazed at his mate.
She wore the same expression as him, when she said, "they listen to the babysitter...so that's something." She looked around. "This place...it is not so harmless as it might appear on the surface. Whenever we mentioned it to those that came from here...they gave us different accounts...but all of them agreed that it had a fitting name."
"Oh? What is it called?" Wei Ying asked, again looking around in barely concealed hungry curiosity.
"The Dragon's Graveyard."
