Lan Zhan hadn't thought it possible that he could love Wei Ying any more, but just watching him with a baby in his arms made love bloom in his heart, a meadow full of flowers.
And then, when he started laughing, a wholesome, real sound that made him want to soar to the skies, Lan Zhan felt a yearning. When Wei Ying finally calmed down, Lan Zhan asked him through their mental connection.
"Wei Ying...shall we fly?"
That's all he had to say for Wei Ying to sober completely and his eyes snapped up to Lan Zhan’s golden ones.
"Would you like to see a show, little babies?" He asked all the children, and when they chorused a resounding yes, Wei Ying reached for Lan Zhan’s hand.
They stepped away from the crowd, conscious not to hurt them with their bigger forms.
Without any warning, both of them transformed into their dragon bodies; Lan Zhan in his spectacular brilliant white with blue scales on his gills and underbelly, while Wei Ying was in powerful black, dark against the indigo sky, his underside a deep crimson red.
Both dragons kissed in the air as they twisted up into sky, their bodies writhing together and twisting apart with momentum. In many ways this dance was like the first time they dueled on the roofs of Cloud Recesses, their swords glinting in the pale moonlight.
This dance was much the same but instead of confusion and frustration, this was an act of pure love. It radiated outwards from their bodies, and everyone present was bathed in a brilliant silvery glow. A chase as old as time, as first the black dragon flew out of Lan Zhan’s grasp, only to chase him back and seal their snouts together, their whiskers flying in the wind.
They soared this way and that, one with the art of flying until they descended, transforming back into their human forms. Everyone stared back with awe upon their faces.
Wei Ying was smiling so brightly, Lan Zhan could only smile back, needing to kiss him again, but mindful of their audience.
Before he could do anything of the sort, there was a flash of light, and Baoshan Sanren appeared in Celestial glory, all dressed in white.
"Grandmother! You came!" Wei Ying ran into her arms, the only one aside from his children who had the nerve to do so.
She hugged him tightly and kissed his forehead, smiling at his tears.
"You missed me that much..."
"Of course!" He replied adamantly, grinning at her through his tears.
She grinned back, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
If it was possible, she looked even younger now.
Li XiWang gave the baby back to Yezi and ran to her great grandmother with Rumi. Both children adored the Grandmaster and it was mutual. She crouched down and gathered them to her chest, kissing their heads.
SiZhui and Jin Ling came to greet her then, and they were followed by the newly wedded JingYi and Zhitiao.
"Congratulations children." She greeted them warmly. "As it is your wedding day, I have brought you gifts." She handed them two wrapped parcels of red colour. "Open them when you are alone." She advised with a laugh.
Huaisang was fanning himself nearby, staring at the Celestial Immortal with heart eyes and not wishing to become the focus of attention. To him, she was everything to aspire to but he was kind of terrified of her too.
But today, Baoshan Sanren was in a good mood and she smiled kindly at him too.
Then she saw the huge bird.
She stalked towards it, fascinated by what she was seeing.
"That's Jiang Cheng." Wei Ying informed her.
"Oh." She paused, thinking.
XiChen was sitting next to the huge thing while it towered over him, completely smitten with Snizzy, as they gazed into each other's eyes.
And then suddenly there was a vicious oink and Ke-ai came running out of the bushes in a jealous rage, attacking the unsuspecting snake. XiChen had his hands full as the fight was happening in his lap and he was trying and failing to separate them.
Jiang Cheng wasn't helping because his long legs were making him dance about awkwardly, trying to avoid stepping on anything, but he wasn't quite used to this form and perhaps those thin legs weren't suitable for holding up that big round body, because he collapsed on the ground in a purple heap.
Wei Ying was finding the whole situation hilarious.
"I thought pets weren't allowed in Cloud Recesses..." the Grandmaster arched her brows.
She had the naughtiest look on her face.
"They're not." Wei Ying giggled, watching the show. "I must say, this is by far, the best wedding I've ever been to in my lives."
"I think...." Baoshan Sanren said, walking up to Jiang Cheng. She placed a hand on his head and he stilled all movement, closing his eyes.
"Jiang Cheng has been having a bad time." Wei Ying explained. "He was accidentally turned into an ape, and then a lizard...only Hui Gai's cure turned him back."
Baoshan Sanren was listening to him with avid interest as he spoke. Now she turned all of her attention onto Jiang Cheng and closed her eyes.
Those purple eyes suddenly opened, full of understanding.
"What is it, grandmother?" Wei Ying stepped closer.
"He's been cursed...or...perhaps not to so much as been cursed...but the remnants of one is still there." She grabbed Wei Ying’s hand and covered it with her own, placing both on Jiang Cheng's head. "Do you feel that?"
Wei Ying closed his eyes, searching with his mind.
He felt the presence of something dark, slithering away just as he reached it.
Silver eyes opened in wonder.
"I never even realised it!" He said out loud, completely taken aback. "How do we get rid of it then, grandmother? And..." He looked around, "has anyone seen Uncle Qiren?"
"Oh..." Baoshan Sanren gave an embarrassed laugh. "I went to have tea with him...before I came here."
"You? Went to have tea?" Wei Ying's eyes were round with surprise.
"Also...I may have spiked his drink." Baoshan Sanren laughed, the sound melodious and bright.
