Hui Gai watched the three main dragons communicate through whatever mental connection they had; he supposed it was something similar to what he shared with his PengYou and his husband.

Maybe trauma did that, he thought with a wry smile.

But it was more likely that it was a result of different powers, namely most of the celestial beings could do it...which led him to wonder why Baoshan Sanren couldn't.

Her head snapped up at that, her purple eyes sharp with curiosity but in a flash, she schooled her features and Hui Gai had a brain wave.

She could delve into people's minds...but she was keeping it a secret.

Well, well, well....

He grinned at her, because he could.

She narrowed her eyes at him.

Don't worry, he consciously thought, your secret is safe with me, no strings attached. I would prefer to remain on your good side.

She looked away then, but Hui Gai was sure she was hiding a smile.

Meanwhile, he would give anything to know what the dragons were discussing. Especially since it concerned his friend.

Ever since his connection with PengYou had been interrupted, he had grown worried and was determined not to let it show. Mostly because children were involved and Li XiWang and Rumi would look to him for guidance in their parents' absence.

He had to show confidence and unshakeable belief in the hope that they would make it out alive.

Which was easier said than done.

What are you thinking? Zago asked him in their minds.

How to make this better. The dragons are up to something, but since the big one really loves my friend, I doubt it'll be something to worry about. I'm just naturally curious. He grinned at her with all his teeth, red eyes gleaming.

I'm sorry for letting you down the other day.

Hui Gai looked at her kindly.

Zago was a troubled soul even if she didn't look like it. With her confident airs and capabilities, she looked and was undefeatable but that didn't mean she never felt anything.

Hui Gai had found her while he was incognito, wandering around the Nether World when he chanced upon an underground fight.

The place was dimly lit, and reeked of stale urine and sweat. There were dubious stains on the walls which Hui Gai definitely did not want to think about what they could be. The place reminded him of those dodgy gambling dens on earth, the ones where the players ended up paying way more than they could afford to.

Bare knuckle boxing was a thing and he was interested.

Especially when he saw the two contestants, and then he was appalled at what they were going to win.

One contestant was a huge bulking giant of a demon. He had muscles on top of his muscles and a sneer towards his opposer, a woman.

That was the first time he had seen Zago.

He stood to the back where no one could see him, though he doubted if anybody would recognise him in this bad lighting.

He was already so much taller than when he had made his first foray out from the knife...but this woman was much taller than him. She was wiry and lean but her stance was full of confidence...even against him.

She was sucking on a lollipop that day too, and when the buzzer sounded, she bit into it before flicking away the stick. Her eyes focused on the big guy scowling at her and she smiled.
