The Gift

It had been a month since Bad Wolf Bay (part 2) and although their relationship was rocky to begin with, the two of them had had a conversation about anything and everything and now they were happier than ever, their relationship progressing smoothly. The two of them were utterly in love, anyone could have worked that out from a mile away. From the consistent hand holding to the always being in close proximity of one another, everyone could see how happy they were together.

And for Rose's close friends and family, this was the best thing ever. The past few years without the Doctor definitely took its toll on her, so to see her this happy, it warmed their hearts greatly. And for Rose herself, seeing the Doctor so happy, so genuinely happy, she couldn't help but beam at him with joy and love every time they locked eyes.

Adjusting to being human wasn't easy for the Doctor, he'd made that clear in his first couple of days in Pete's World, verbally and physically. Yet Rose was continuously there for him, supporting him through it all and giving him constant reassurance. Even when he could tell it unnerved her at times (multiple times), she never voiced any malicious complaints and just sat with him whilst he got himself through it. After a month, the Doctor was getting there slowly and Rose had suggested he work for Torchwood with her - it would give him something to do after all.

It did, however, take a bit of convincing but when Rose told him he'd have access to pretty much anything and could to whatever he wanted to do in the labs (within reason of course), he had accepted quite quickly after that. The pair of them working together, then coming home to a flat in London - domestic as can be. Home, the Doctor had mused aloud to Rose one evening, he'd never would have considered a flat home if it wasn't for Rose.

Further adjusting to being human, the Doctor began to immerse himself in the internet, researching about all the differences and similarities of the two worlds, and also about the current society. Years ago, he teased Rose about all the magazines she used to read, but now it seemed he was reading them far more than she was nowadays. He was amazed by all the 'tips' they had to offer, but when consulting with Rose about them, she had shook her head and told him not to listen to what they said.

"Why not? You used to read them all the time." The Doctor pouted.

"Yes, used to, and even so, I knew what was bullshit and what wasn't, I didn't let them dictate my life." Rose told him pointedly.

He frowned then, "How do you know?"

"Know what?"

"What's... bullshit. It all seems serious," The Doctor trailed off, Rose stifled a laugh, "And people just believe these things? Now that you mention it, absolutely none of this is backed up by actual facts!"

Rose couldn't help but laugh at him now, "Exactly! Most of it is all completely ludicrous, it's just a way to get people to invest in companies they never would have thought about before because some magazine said they should. The magazine gets money, so do all those companies - win win."

The Doctor stared at her, awe written across his face. Rose soon noticed his staring and involuntarily blushed.

"What?" She asked.

"You're amazing," He moved to wrap his arms around her waist, "And so completely beautiful."

Tears sprang to her eyes, she still wasn't used to all his consistent compliments yet, "Thanks," She mumbled. Rose tried ducking her head, but the Doctor used two fingers to lift her head to face him again.

Slowly, the Doctor leaned down to softly capture her lips with his - languidly moving them, leaving and reclaiming them with an unspoken rhythm. Rose moved her hands into the Doctor's hair and the two hummed at the motion simultaneously. They continued kissing softly for a while, then the Doctor traced his tongue along Rose's lips and she opened her mouth to him without hesitation. The intensity of their snogging had now increased and things were quickly escalating. However, the two of them needed to breathe, which put a pause on their activities.
